Trick or Treat! It's Spooky Smut in the City

spookysitc.jpg

http://spooky.smutinthecity.co.uk/

Have you heard about the Spooky Smut in the City blog hop?  Well, you've found it.  And today it's found me.  It's here.  Right now.  The smut is coming... from inside the house!

Is it just me, or do BDSM and succubi go together like threesomes and vampires?

Last year I wrote a short story called Blood Addict, about bisexual vampires trying to kick the habit. I was very impressed with myself, but my girlfriend/editor didn't think it was up to snuff.  She tried to lead me in the right direction.  I rewrote the story.  Nope, still wasn't good enough.  I rewrote it again.

By the time Blood Addict met my editor/girlfriend's exacting standards, Halloween was long past and I was like, "Okay, so am I going to sit on this for another year, or what?"  I guess I could have released the story at any time of year, but that didn't occur to me.

What DID occur to me was that I had a lot of paranormal stories sitting on my hard drive, collecting dust.  These stories didn't just involve fairy tales, vampires, and other creepy creatures--they also involved MMF menage and BDSM.  So I put them all together and voila!  This Halloween, we've got a brand new anthology called Blood Addict!

Some stories are pretty sweet, pretty romantic.  Some stories are extreme.  The first story in the collection, A Jealous God, is about caging and confinement. It pushes clear past the sensible limits of domination and submission.

On the flip side, there's an erotic fairy tale adaptation in there called Princess of the Ravens that's really nice and romantic. Eight stories in total, and there's quite a range of fiction. Published by eXcessica.

And if you prefer lesbian erotica and paranormal romance, you might opt for Girls Gone Carnal: Lesbian Vamps, Witches, and Weres. Published by eXcessica.

And if you like to pick and choose, many of the 16 stories that appear across Blood Addict and Girls Gone Carnal are also available as individual ebooks.  The series is called Paranormal Erotic Shorts, and you can get them at

Dirty Little Numbers

I'm going to write a review right now.  I don't usually review fiction, but I'm going to do it anyway.

There's a book that's just come out called Dirty Little Numbers.  It's published by Go Deeper Press.  One of my stories is in it--actually, at 100 words, "What Does the Bunny Say?" is the shortest story I've ever written, but it's weird and wild enough to pack a punch.

Dirty Little Numbers: Erotic Flash Fiction of 500 Words or Less

I love short stories.  I've written novels and novellas, but short stories are my first love--the shorter, the better.  These ones are all under 500 words.  Heaven!

So I figured I'd pick one story from my contributor's copy, at random, and write a little review of it.  Here we are.  Live blogging.  I'm just going to scroll through the PDF and... huh, okay this story is called "Anonymous" (hey, my first novel was called Anonymous!) and the author is Daniel Burnell--new to me.

"Anonymous" by Daniel Burnell is a wall.  It tells you so, right off the bat: "I'm a wall. A big, fat wall. A barrier." HA!  I'm laughing already: a wall of words informing the reader, self-reflexively, that it is a wall.  But it's not just the story itself that acts as a wall; the character, Anna, is a wall as well.  She's a "huge, fat, forbidding" pregnant wall in her husband's bed.  The quick, choppy sentences work for me, especially within a wall of words.  I feel like I'm in a cardboard box with a flashlight, wondering how this dirty little number is going to end.

...and...

...and...

Sorry, I read the rest without you.  I just got so engrossed I forgot you were sitting there waiting for me to say something.  But, I'll tell you this, I found "Anonymous" clever and heartwarming and real. REAL real.  Wow, what a great little story.  Good things come in small packages and big, fat walls.

I wonder what else is in this book...

#MySexySaturday Bisexual Hairdressing Vampires!

As I mentioned yesterday, I've got a new anthology on the market. "Blood Addict" started life as a short story I intended to have published last Halloween.  Problem was, every time my editor looked at revisions, it was the same issue: nope, this story's not quite right.  It's not ready yet.

I worked on Blood Addict throughout the year, and as I did I realized I had quite a few paranormal shorts sitting on my hard drive. They seemed to fit together.  Why not combine all eight into one collection?

So, for today's My Sexy Saturday, I bring you 7 paragraphs from the bisexual hairdressing vampire story that started it all, Blood Addict:

It was just like quitting smoking.

That’s what people didn’t seem to realize.  If you wanted to give up blood and you had a hell of a lot of willpower, you could do it.  It wasn’t easy.  Hell, it was probably the hardest thing Byron had ever done, but it was possible.

Vampire stories were so romanticized.  All that undead stuff, the melodrama of addiction, the eroticism, the homoeroticism wasn’t what life was like for Byron, even if he was gay.  Well, bi, actually.  His boyfriend Tyler was always on him about bi invisibility and how they shouldn’t let people think they were gay just because they were two guys who loved each other.  Byron didn’t care so much what people thought, but for Tyler’s sake he corrected their mistakes.  Sometimes.

Well, okay, maybe part of the reason he let people assume he was gay was that it helped in his profession.  If you’re styling a woman’s hair and she’s sitting there thinking you’re gay, she’ll open up to you like crazy.  It makes the job way easier.  Tell her you’re bi and suddenly she’s wondering why you mentioned it at all.  Are you hitting on her?  What’s the deal?

So often Byron let sleeping dogs lie. No skin off his ass.

And then along came Amy and everything changed.

Everything.

This wedding’s already got serious sizzle, and it’s only Friday night!

Now how about an excerpt from the fifth book, Wedding Heat: MILF of the Groom?

Excerpt:
Even in the low light of the library, Ellora could see the scarlet blush rising up Russ’s neck, ascending all the way to his forehead.

“You’re a very attractive lady,” he said. “Very attractive. I wouldn’t be lying if I said you were the most beautiful woman here. I think your family’s jealous of more than just your money, Mrs. Milton.”

“Ellora,” she insisted, gazing up at him, finding at once softness and sheer lust in his eyes.

“Ellora,” he said, his breath rumbling like a grizzly’s growl.

The heat between them might have singed the eyebrows off a weaker woman, but Ellora wore their shared lust like a jewel. “You’ve been so kind,” she said.

“You…”

She didn’t give him time to finish, launching herself at his lips, kissing him hard while his fingers felt their way up her side. Her dress was a flimsy thing, though heavy with shimmering beads, and his fingertips soon met bare skin, searing it like a hot pan.
Russ broke away.

“Maybe we shouldn’t,” he whimpered like a loyal mutt.

But Ellora was already reaching around, unfastening her bra before letting the strap of her dress slip down her shoulder, slide down her arm. “Oh Russ, darling, I rather think we should.”

His hot gaze followed a trail of naked skin left in the wake of her tumbling dress. When her breasts were bare, he stared at them, transfixed, and that wolfish lust in his eyes gave her cause to grin zealously. She took hold of his big hand and moved it to her breast, pressing it, making him squeeze.

The heat of his skin against her sensitive nipple ramped up Ellora’s wild desire. She moaned softly, and he responded in kind, sliding down the couch and landing on the floor in front of her. Like a desperate beast, Russ pulled her into his grip and sucked her nipple so hard she hissed at the sensation.

“Careful, careful,” she warned, pressing on his forehead, shifting him to the other breast. “Too much too soon, sweety.”

He looked up at her with worry in his dark eyes. “I’m sorry, Mrs. Milton. Did I hurt you?”

She smiled, trying not to laugh. “Will you please call me Ellora?”

To Dream of Her True Love's Face (lesbian historical/mythology)

If you didn't snap up a copy of To Dream of Her True Love's Face when it was available as a Charity Sip from Torquere Press, it's back!  This lesbian erotic romance straddles history and mythology, as an English girl whose family has recently moved to Canada falls (literally--she falls in a swamp) for a Native woman who has every reason to be wary of her.

To Dream of Her True Love's Face

by Giselle Renarde

To dream of her true love's face, Emma takes heed of well-known folklore and places a bundle of rosemary beneath her pillow. Her family is quite dismayed when she dreams of a Native woman rather than the young man they intend for her to marry. Their derision drives Emma to the woods, where she takes a step in the wrong direction and becomes stuck in a marsh. When she calls for help, what should she hear but the steady beat of hooves and the heavy rustle of leather?

Is her true love a fallen woman, or a mythical creature fallen from the stars?

Warnings: This historical lesbian romance includes legendary love and explicit erotic content.
NOTE: This is a previously published work. Originally published by Torquere Press.

Excerpt:
"Two bay leaves and a sprig of rosemary," her sister whispered, sprinkling the bundle with rosewater. "All that remains is to wrap them in the leaf from a cherry tree and you shall dream of your true love's face."

"And if I dream of Paul," Emma asked doubtfully, "I should accept his proposal of marriage?"

"Well, of course you should, silly girl!" Rosalind tucked the fragrant bundle under Emma's pillow and kissed her forehead. "You must accept his proposal whether or not you dream of him, or risk becoming an old maid like your sister!"

Dear Rosalind chuckled and rose from the bed as Emma pulled her fine Parisian quilt across her chest. "I have my doubts about marriage."

"Nonsense," Rosalind clucked. "You shall dream of Paul's face, and you will know in your heart he is your one true love."

Emma sighed as her sister departed, but perhaps there was some enchantment in her sister's parcel of herbs after all. When Emma's reluctant eyelids weighed heavy and closed shut, she tumbled directly into sleep.

Hooves fell, signaling the advance of a powerful creature.

At once, Emma beheld a proud chestnut horse approaching from a great distance. Even in sleep, its rider stole her breath away. The man on the horse was certainly not Paul, and as she gazed more closely upon his face, Emma realized this was not a man at all! The rider was a woman, neither a dainty Englishwoman in petticoats nor a colonial farmwoman in cotton skirts, but a proud Native warrior dressed all in leather.

The Native woman's face was unlike any Emma had observed in the talented Mr. Catlin's paintings. Her hair was black as a raven's and shimmered bluish against the blinding sunlight. Her copper skin glowed with the radiance of a star, her features noble and well-placed cheeks neither chubby nor gaunt.

As Emma looked on in rapture, a breeze picked up and tossed the woman's long hair over her shoulders. A stronger wind then urged her head to the side until at last she looked directly into Emma's eyes. Her expression hardened, but Emma's fear and excitement and great trepidation spilled into an eager smile. How could she impress her adoration upon this warrior woman?

Release Blitz: Run for Your Love by Annabeth Leong

I'm sick of thinking about censorship today, so let's take a time-out to read about a new release.  I hate zombies, but I love Annabeth Leong, so... this:

Run for Your Love by Annabeth Leong

Blurb:

Shotguns seem to be everyone's favorite accessory for the zombie apocalypse, but Zach Paul believes he can survive without hurting anyone—not even the zombies. An elite-level runner, he plans to speed away from every danger. Then Zach meets a woman he can't bring himself to leave behind, and staying beside her tests all his principles.

Viola Ortiz fought free of her controlling boyfriend just before the zombies came, but now she believes her macho ex is the only one who can protect her. She sets out to reunite with him, only to encounter Zach instead. The tall, lean runner is everything her ex is not, and Viola is shocked to find he turns her on as no man has before. Viola's ex, however, isn't willing to let go of her, and soon it's clear that other survivors are as dangerous as the zombies.

Zach and Viola can run, but they must find safety before they lose their humanity in the struggle to protect their lives and growing love.

Excerpt:

It may not have been too crazy for me to think I could keep clear of the zombies in the Quarantined Area. On the news everyone kept saying these are "slow zombies." They're dangerous, diseased, and mostly impervious to pain, but not the sort of terrifyingly speedy hunters that have been popular in movies lately. My plan to run in there was risky, but I like to think not completely doomed. I planned around my talents instead of just deciding I'd somehow figure out how to execute a standing long jump of multiple feet once I found myself staring down at concrete two stories below a rooftop. I trusted the only thing I've been able to rely on my whole life—my legs.

What I didn't take into account were bullets—as in projectiles whizzing past my ears as I booked it down the sidewalk. Why the hell does everyone think the zombie apocalypse gives them a license to act like Rambo? I'm not just talking about what happened once zombies actually appeared in the middle of our city, eating brains, shambling, and whatever else they do. I'm talking about all the years of excitement about zombies—Facebook quizzes predicting whether your relationship would survive an outbreak, the sudden popularity of YouTube videos about parkour, and a pervasive cultural obsession with shotguns. I think people watched zombie movies and decided it would be great for the rule of law to break down to the point that they'd be allowed to solve problems by shooting first and asking questions later.

It's not the most macho position to take, especially not in the neighborhood where I grew up, but I guess it's clear by now that I'm a pacifist. Some other guy might respond to the looters by taking cover behind an abandoned building and pulling out his own gun to trade shots. That's not my style.

Instead, I shouted, "What the hell?" and tried to run faster.

Two days into societal breakdown, street cleanliness had already suffered. Trash bags, newspapers, and other detritus littered the road, and I swear the pavement had more cracks than usual. It took all my concentration not to slip or break my ankle.

I don't have experience dodging bullets, so I wasn't sure if I'd be harder to hit if I tried to zig-zag or not. Since I didn't know, I ducked my head, picked up the pace, and hoped for the best.

The guy with the gun shouted, "Drop the backpack!" Apparently, he thought bullets made good punctuation.

"There's nothing in it!" I screamed back. Which wasn't strictly true. I didn't have any money or valuables, which I assumed was what they were looking for. On the other hand, the backpack had everything I thought I needed to survive in the Quarantined Area, so I didn't want to give it up.

"Like hell it's empty!" The guy chasing me squeezed off a few more shots.

The fact that he hadn't managed to hit me yet confirmed one of the points I'd like to make about guns, which is related to a couple of the things I've already ranted about. A lot of people think you can just pick up a gun and go to town. That tells me that most people have never actually held a gun, much less fired one.

I've been to the shooting range a number of times with my older brother Dominic, and once, before a birthday party he celebrated one year in Vegas, that included firing machine guns. Before I'm accused of hypocrisy, I'll add that Dominic spent a long time trying to get into the police academy, and I provided moral support while he studied and trained. Anyway, after several good tries, I learned that if you can hold a gun without your hand trembling uncontrollably, you're doing well. And it takes training before most people can manage to hit, say, the broad side of a barn.

The looter chasing me might think he was tough, but he'd obviously never gotten the chance to practice with a gun. I promised myself I'd say a prayer of thanks as soon as I got out of range of him and his burly friends. I almost looked forward to the zombies at that point—at least I'd understand their motives.

Someone cried out behind me, and I risked a glance over my shoulder. One guy lay on the pavement clutching his ankle, probably a victim of one of the cracks I'd noticed earlier. Two of the others seized the excuse to quit running, squatting beside him clutching their sides, gasping, panting, and coughing. I allowed myself a satisfied smile. The guy with the gun hadn't tired yet, but he would, as long as he didn't manage a lucky shot before I finished putting him through his paces.

I lengthened my strides. It felt good to take my body to its limit, to dig as deeply as I could into the inner reserves I'd built up over the years... Right up until I realized I'd forgotten to keep an eye on the littered road.

My foot tangled in a plastic bag, and I went down hard. It was like something out of kindergarten—bloody knees, bloody palms, and pain that brought stinging tears to my eyes. A bullet hit the asphalt a mere foot away from me.

"Let up, man!" I made my voice as threatening as possible, despite my vulnerable position. "I got nothing!"

"Give me the backpack!"

Adrenaline forced me to my feet. I took a deep breath, preparing to push myself back into a run despite the stiffness already settling into my knees.

That wasn't to be, because my fall had allowed the big guy catch up with me. He may not have known how to use his gun, but he sure as hell knew how to use his hands. He demonstrated on my trachea as soon as he got hold of me.

I hate to say it, but I froze. I thought about trying to stomp on his foot or something, but I didn't really expect that to work, and I didn't want to die a traitor to my own pacifist ideals. I helplessly pondered what to do as he squeezed my neck tighter, and I started to feel chilled and light- headed.

That was the first time I saw her, and considering how little oxygen was reaching my brain at that moment, you can probably understand why I thought she was some sort of apparition.

She was beautiful. Sexy? Yes. She had the sort of curves that make a man want to spend long afternoons in bed just tracing the shape of them. Lips to match and ringlets of black hair that I immediately wanted to feel across my bare chest. But she was also beautiful in a holy way— some kind of light in the eyes or glow to the skin that reminded me of pictures of La Virgen. She was dressed all in blue too, which contributed to my impression that she wasn't entirely of this world—my mother taught me that blue is Mary's color.

Her small, compact body hurtled into me and my captor with force far beyond what I would have expected from her weight. She screamed that he ought to let me go, and his grip loosened, I think because he was so stunned. Neither of us knew where she had come from or what she had to do with me.

Unfortunately, the deranged looter's first instinct after letting go of me was to go after her, specifically by hooking a finger through one of the big gold hoop earrings she wore. I stretched my own rules a little and jabbed him in the ribs with my elbow, hoping to distract him enough that my rescuer and I could both escape.

She didn't have the kind of qualms I did. Out of one pocket, she produced a can of pepper spray and proceeded to administer a healthy dose straight into his eyes. I covered my face in time, but he gave a high-pitched scream and clapped his palms to his cheekbones. The gun hit my foot then the pavement. The woman screamed too, and I wondered if he still had her by the earring.

I dropped to the ground and crawled a few feet away, moving through the pain in my knees and palms. A glance at the woman showed she'd gotten herself free of her opponent's grip and had grabbed the upper hand by far. She administered a series of precise and painful-looking strikes to his abdomen.

Any second, more of the looters would join this fight. I didn't feel good about running away when she'd gotten involved in the first place because of me.

Pushing myself to my feet, I went over and grabbed her elbow, wincing when my scrapes contacted her skin. "We have to get out of here," I told her. "Try to keep up."

She rolled her eyes but didn't answer me. I took off running, feeling so much adrenaline by then that the pain in my knees didn't really bother me.

She wasn't next to me.

I whirled without stopping, in time to see her scoop the looter's gun off the sidewalk and toss it into a glittery backpack she carried, slung too low to be entirely practical. I took my own turn rolling my eyes. Just what I needed. Another Rambo wannabe. "Come on!" I shouted.

I have to admit that despite annoying me by going for the gun, she'd impressed me so far. The next thing she did really caught my attention. She grinned at me, as wicked and gleeful as if we'd gone out racing to settle a bet. Then she covered the distance I'd put between us so fast it took me a moment to realize I was being outpaced.

She shot past me and tossed another smile over her shoulder. "You better hurry," she said, with a Puerto Rican accent and not a trace of effort. "Ahora, chacho. Those guys look mad."

I Don't Want You To "Protect" My Reputation, Kobo

I want you to sell my goddamn books.

After joining Kobo Writing Life only a few weeks ago, this evening I (and, I gather, other users of their self-publishing platform) received this wonderful (=sarcasm) email:

As you may be aware, there has been a significant amount of negative media attention in the UK regarding offensive material that became available across a number of eBook platforms. Kobo was included in the reports from media and we are taking immediate action to resolve an issue that is the direct result of a select few authors and publishers violating Kobo’s content policies.

In order to address the situation Kobo is taking the following steps:

1.We are removing titles in question from the Kobo platform.

2. We are quarantining and reviewing titles to ensure that compliance to our policies is met by all authors and publishers. We will ensure that content meeting the policy is made available online as soon as possible.

3. We are reviewing our policies and procedures to implement safeguards that will ensure this situation does not happen in the future.

We are working hard to get back to business as usual, as quickly as possible. We appreciate your patience and understanding in this matter.

Our goal at Kobo is not to censor material; we support freedom of expression. Further, we want to protect the reputation of self-publishing as a whole. You have our promise that we will do all we can to ensure the exceptions that have caused this current situation will not have a lasting effect on what is an exciting new channel that connects Readers to a wealth of books.

Sincerely,
Mark Lefebvre
Director, Kobo Writing Life

Don't you love how they go into absolutely no detail and they offer no specifics?  Kobo is a big player in the Canadian market, but this manner of obfuscation reminds me a hell of a lot of a certain amazonian institution in the worldwide market.

Anyway, I searched for Adam and Sheree's Family Vacation and Adam and Sheree's Family Business (two taboo brother/sister erotica title--all consenting adults, as you know) and they're gone. For now(?). I have very little faith you'll see them at Kobo again.

But wait... there's more! I just searched for a rather tame erotic romance I wrote called "Seducing the Sexy Celebrity Chef" and guess what?  It's gone too!

But it's not like they're censoring me or anything. Just protecting the reputation of self-publishing.

Happy Thanksgiving, Canada! Let's enjoy our free country by reading a copy of... hmmm... let's see what Nanny Kobo will let us to read... (oh look! they've removed my lesbian ageplay novella Nanny State!)

Milady's Bath: Lesbian Gothic Horror Erotica

Nearly a week after uploading, my lesbian historical/paranormal erotic story "Milady's Bath" has finally popped up on Kobo. (As Troy McClure:) You may remember Milady's Bath from such anthologies as "Red Velvet and Absinthe" and "Girls Gone Carnal." (End bad Simpsons impression).

Now you can get Milady's Bath for just $0.99!  Totally worth it.

A manor house maid provides sensual comfort when her mistress returns, in tatters, from the woods.

Elizabeth, one of the manor house maids, will never understand her mistress' behavior.  Why slip out the window every time the moon is full only to return with her flesh torn and her gown tattered?  A beast of a man must be involved, as "Milady" always returns dripping with seed and ready for a bath.  Elizabeth can't imagine why her mistress returns to the mysterious man's rough embrace month after month when Milady could so easily stay home to enjoy the maid's loving caress.

Warnings: This paranormal lesbian romance contains explicit erotic encounters.  Appears in the anthology "Girls Gone Carnal: Lesbian Vamps, Witches and Weres."
Word Count: 3,800

Excerpt:

When I catch sight of Milady stumbling out of the forest, I hop back into the bed we share.

Under the covers, I wait to hear her footfalls in the garden below, and then her whimpers of exertion as she climbs the old stone wall.  The window hardly creaks as she opens it wide and moves through like a specter.  Only when I hear the rustle of her skirts do I sit up in bed and rub my eyes as though I had been sleeping all the time.

“Ah, you have ventured out,” I say as she casts off her cape.

I observe the state of her gown and sigh.  It has been torn anew where I stitched it up last month.  The front of her bodice hangs open, her naked breasts scarcely concealed by underthings.  Her nipples glow pink through dirty white silk.  The scratches across her ravaged chest are red and raised, but her wounds are not bleeding tonight.

“I have ventured out,” she concedes at last.  When Milady runs her fingers through her tangled hair, twigs and leaves and all manner of things fall to the floor.  “But now I have returned and I shall require my bath forthwith.”

She wipes dirt from her cheek, but it persists.  Her hands are as muddy as her face.

I slip out from bed and throw a shawl across my shoulders.  Bowing ever so slightly, I reply, “Yes, Milady,” and tiptoe from her chamber in my simple cotton nightdress.

Cook ensures the stove is always lit, and water always upon it for those who wish a cup of tea late into the night.  I replace the two kettles I’ve taken before leaving the kitchen.  The hot water steams as I climb the darkened staircase, quiet as a mouse though my arms shriek with pain.  This task is onerous, but there is nothing I would not endure for Milady.

Sneak: a paranormal lesbian shapeshifter romance

Last week I told you about some spooky/shiftery/succubusy titles I've self-published. This week we've got more spooky, but with a lesbian edge!

First up is my shapeshifter story, Sneak, which you might have read in the Cleis anthology "SheShifters" or in my "Girls Gone Carnal" collection:

A mouse shifter in a backwoods bordello falls for a cursed lady of the evening in this lesbian erotic romance.

Extended description

Bess was born human in a backwoods brothel, and she's lived there as a mouse long enough to watch generations of girls come and go. Loralee’s the only one remaining to entertain cowboys who leave her with bruises and a fistful of cash.

Oh so many years ago, Bess sought Old Gertie's magic to avoid the fate Loralee now lives. Her little heart can't bear the torment those brutes impose on poor Loralee. She's got a plan to revisit her human form, but is Bess willing to come out of retirement in a career she never started?

Warnings: This paranormal lesbian romance contains explicit erotic encounters. Appears in the anthology "Girls Gone Carnal: Lesbian Vamps, Witches and Weres."

Excerpt

Loralee considered Bess gravely, perched with one foot up against the tree.  “You’re not some freaky chick, are you?  Here to kill me and whatnot?”

Bess shook her head, trying not to smile too widely.  “I’m just a girl who wants a little pleasure out of life…like you?”

“Oh, sister, you got me all wrong.”  Cackling, Loralee pushed herself away from the tree with her foot and stumbled toward the open kitchen door.  “Hmm…guess I musta left that open.”

“Right…”  Bess’s heart palpitated as she followed Loralee inside.  “Well, since you did and all, I brewed you up some coffee.  Want a cup?”

A grin like Bess hadn’t seen in ages bled across Loralee’s lips.  “I surely would, little lady.  Thanks a bunch.”  She sat at her own kitchen table and allowed Bess to serve her.

As Loralee sipped her coffee black, her hazy eyes found the glimmer of her youth.  She’d been so vibrant before the drinking, before the whoring.  Bess had watched from the walls as girls grew up too fast in this house.  She would have been one of them if it hadn’t been for Old Gertie’s magic, and there was more guilt in that thought than Bess could bear.

“Could I help you take a bath?” Bess asked, watching Loralee’s strong hands grip her coffee mug.  “I’d enjoy that quite a bit.”

Loralie looked up from the table, questioning, and then grinned.  “Guess so.”  She shrugged.  “Hey, what is your name, anyway?”

Neither Love Nor Money: succubus bondage erotic romance

All week I've been telling you about new paranormal ebooks.  Today's title first appeared in the Cleis anthology Seductress, a collection of succubus stories.  Mine's got a BDSM edge, and now you can grab it for $0.99:

Detta's employees like to spread vicious rumors about their boss sleeping her way to the top.  They don't know how right they are, and neither does the Detta's new pet, Max, until she seduces him while they're working late.  She ties him up to show him just how much power a succubus can wield over a man, but there's a hitch: Detta falls for Max, so hard she can't conceive of stealing his essence.  Without the energy she needs, Detta fades fast.  Will Max do what's necessary to make her well again?

Warnings: This short story contains bondage, femdom, succubus sex, and paranormal office romance.  Appears in the anthology "Blood Addict."

Word Count: 3,500

Excerpt:

Did she turn him around or did he do that himself?  He couldn’t remember anymore.  Somehow he ended up facing her.  She tore off his tie with one hand while she found his cock with the other.  How did she manage to zero in like that?  Just wham! She had it in her fist, stroking hard through the fabric of his trousers.

Max knew Detta wouldn’t be gentle.  He’d seen the violence in her, right from the start.  She man-handled him, strong, tough, and she stood nearly his height in those fuck-me heels.

She only let go of his cock to bind his wrists behind him—and with his own tie, to boot.  When she pressed him against the sideboard, he worried he might ruin one of the catalogue mock-ups, but if she didn’t care why should he?  So he pressed his head against the glossy board while Bernadetta tore open his shirt.

Buttons went flying, sailing to the floor in slow motion.  Each mother-of-pearl droplet settled like rain on the industrial carpet.  He was so mesmerized by the subtle shimmer that he almost didn’t notice Detta ripping his belt from its loops.  When she tossed it around her shoulders, it morphed into a black snake.  Were his eyes playing tricks on him, or did his belt hiss while his boss opened his fly?

Max’s pants dropped to the floor with the weight of his wallet, his keys, and his merciless arousal.

Princess of the Ravens: Shapeshifter Erotic Fairy Tale

A little birdie told me you just can't get enough paranormal erotica... so here's more!

Princess of the Ravens

by Giselle Renarde

When a girl child is born to the king's new queen, his sons must flee or face imminent death.  After many years in hiding, Verity tracks down her would-be brothers in a neighbouring kingdom.  As gifts for the twelve men, she plucks twelve enchanted lilies from a witch's garden.  Immediately, the men are turned to ravens.  According to the enchantress' spell, Verity must not make a sound for seven years or her brothers will die.

At once, Verity is found by a prince, who takes her home for his bride.  His mother shows the young girl mercy by confining her to a tower for seven years.  In that time, the raven Benjamin visits her daily.  When they learn to communicate without words, Benjamin reveals a secret that allows their love to blossom.

Will Verity escape the arrogant prince, or be forced to wed?  How can a raven become her saviour?

Warnings: Princess of the Ravens is an erotic shapeshifter adaptation of the Brothers Grimm fairy tale "Twelve Brothers."  Appears in the anthology "Blood Addict."

Word Count: 5,300

Excerpt:

Together, they counted down the days until Verity would be wed to the prince for whom she held no affection. “It is you I love,” she told her raven boy, in her way.  “How can I marry another?”

“Leave it to me,” he sang, and she smiled.  She knew she could trust him, just as she knew he saw every delectable imagining that entered her mind.  In that moment, she caught herself recollecting that this was the day of her birth, and she was now a woman in every sense.  As soon as the thought struck her, she knew she had conveyed it to Benjamin, and they both fell more silent than they had ever been with one another.

“Where do you go in the night?” she asked him, in silence.  “What do you do when you are not at my side?”

“In the night…” he crowed. “In the night, I am transformed. In the night, I am a man.”

Verity’s heart froze in her chest.  She recognized well the urges in her own body, and she could only imagine how it must be for Benjamin.  He was, after all, a “brutish man” as the waiting maids called them, and he was older, as well.  Must she dwell on the ideas of what he did in the night?  With other women?

The Mesmerist and the Mare: Shapeshifters, Nightmares, Erotic Horror

One of my favourite stories in the upcoming "Blood Addict" collection is a Gothic horror called "The Mesmerist and the Mare."  If you read the Cleis book "Red Velvet and Absinthe" and LOVED IT, this story should appeal to you because it's written in that same dark, mysterious, somewhat frightening tone.

The Mesmerist and the Mare

by Giselle Renarde

After weeks of the Mesmerist's "animal magnetism" sessions, Ditta ought to have been cured, and yet the Mare returns every night.  She fights off sleep as long as she can, but eventually darkness descends.  Terrifying creatures chase her through forests as she fights them off breathlessly.

Perhaps the doctor's approach has been too subtle.  When he pushes Ditta closer to her animal nature, will they fight off the Mare together... or submit to its salacious whims?

Warnings: This short story contains torn gowns, gothic nightmares, shapeshifter sex, and fear.  Appears in the anthology "Blood Addict."

Word Count: 3,900

Excerpt:

“Good afternoon, Doctor Jesper.”

“Ahh, Ditta!  My favourite patient.”  The mesmerist bowed deeply.  “Please, take a seat.  Be comfortable.”

Ditta sat at the edge of the familiar chaise longue.  “I am relieved you could see me on short notice, Doctor.  The mare has returned.”

“Ah, yes.”  The doctor puffed reflectively on his pipe.

“You said I would be cured after last week’s session.”  Ditta cocked her head.  “Perhaps my faith in your methods has been… misplaced?”

The doctor’s moustache curled fiendishly when he grinned.  “Not at all, dearest Ditta.  If anything, my approach was perhaps too subtle.”

Ditta’s heart raced.  “What do you propose, Doctor Jesper?”

“The Mare is guiding you in one direction, and our treatment has attempted to rein her in.  This course of action has been ineffectual, as you say.  Instead, we must provoke the efforts of Nature.  Rather than drawing you away from the Mare, we must push you forward, into her lair.  You must surrender yourself.”

“But Doctor!”  Ditta clutched at her breast.  “I could do no such thing.  Her ways are sordid and sinful.”

“Yes,” Doctor Jesper agreed.  “And if you wish to be rid of her, you must submit.”

Jungfrau: A BDSM Menage Fairy Tale

It's not every day that you come across rope bondage and cock caging in a story inspired by a mountain range in Switzerland. Today's special that way.

I heard about the Jungfrau mountain range on a travel show.  It's a triple peak, and villagers long ago came up with the myth that the middle one's a monk, keeping the young maiden on one side safe from the ogre on the other.

You know me.  I like to fuck with stuff.  So I took this story and perved it, severely.  My monk craves monster cock and he'll go to any lengths to get it:

Jungfrau

by Giselle Renarde

A monk lives in the middle of a mountain range, with a maiden called Jungfrau on one side and an ogre, Eiger, on the other.  In the guise of protecting Jungfrau, Monche offers to keep her safe in his cavern.  Little does she know the monk is only using her as bait to attract the ogre next door.  When Eiger arrives, will he rescue the damsel in distress or teach Monche a once-in-a-lifetime lesson?

Warnings: This adult fairy tale contains BDSM, rope bondage, cock cages, mythical beings, and MMF menage.

Word Count: 3,300

Excerpt

“Maiden,” Monche said.  His impulses raged below the surface, but he kept his need in check as a monk must do.  “Maiden, are you not concerned for your safety, all alone on this mountain?”

Her eyes grew round and wide. “What is there to be frightened of?”

“The ogre,” Monche blurted.  “I don’t mean to alarm you, but he is a beast of a man and lives on the peak next to mine.  I would never forgive myself if I failed to keep you safe.”

Jungfrau nodded slowly, and then gazed up at her house on the hill.  “Will the ogre find me there?”

“He could.”  Monche’s heart raced.  “And, worse yet, the ogre has the power to enchant you.  You cannot trust your own senses, dear maiden.  You might give yourself to him and not know why.”

The edelweiss fell from her hands.  “Oh dear,” she said.  “What can I do to prevent such an attack?”

“Come with me,” the monk suggested.  “I will keep you safe.”

Jungfrau gazed longingly at her mountain, and sighed in resignation.  When she took his hand and followed, Monche’s groin ached most devilishly.
