Where there’s smoke there’s Hellfire.
Blurb
Sonia is a succubus with one goal: stay off Hell’s radar. But when succubi start to die, including her sometimes lover, Jeannie, she’s drawn into battle between good and evil.
Fae is a blood witch turned vampire, running a tattoo parlor and trading her craft for blood. She notices that something isn’t right on the streets of her city. The denizens of Hell are restless. With the aid of her nest mate Perry and his partner Charley, she races against time before the next victim falls. The killer has a target in his sights, and Sonia might not live to see the dawn.

Q&A:
How did you come up with Sigil Fire?
This story began as a writing prompt that didn’t make it into the anthology it was originally intended for. After much more work, I sent it in to the Ylva Halloween anthology and the amazing and wonderful Astrid believed it could be so much more. What was a nine thousand word story became a nearly thirty thousand word novella.
Will there be a sequel?
Yes. Charley, Perry, Sonia and Fae will be back for book two, which has already begun.
Favorite dessert?
Chocolate. Any kind. Anywhere.
Do you have a pet?
Yes. My husband and I have a pack of furry canine children that constantly keep us on our toes.
Favorite place to relax?
That would have to be in bed with a good book, my puppy Tadpole by my side.
Who are some of your favorite urban fantasy or erotic authors?
There are so many! I love Kim Harrison, Lisabet Sarai, Jaye Wells, Red Phoenix, Cari Silverwood, DL King, Alison Tyler, Rachel Kramer Bussel, Rhavensfyre, Patricia Briggs, Laura Antoniou…the list goes on and on. If I could be sealed in a room for a year I would never be bored reading these fabulous authors and more.
What are you working on now?
I have several works in progress. I write for the serial, Club Rook and am in the middle of two episodes to finish out the first season. There is also a CYOA for Silkwords, a twisted fairy tale for Decadent and a Halloween tale for my wonderful friends at Ylva. Not to mention the urban fantasy romance I’m up to my knees in for Sci Spanks coming up in a week or so.
What is Sci Spanks?
I’m glad you asked! It is a wonderful event for authors and readers to get together around their love of reading erotic literature. Some spanking may be involved, so warm up your paddles! Check out this link to the Facebook page and consider being an ambassador. More prize opportunities and it is as easy as cut and paste.
Thanks for having me on the blog today! I hope to see you around Facebook and hop over to my author site to sign up for the newsletter.

Guest Post: Why Sports Romance by Lucy Felthouse (@cw1985)

Actually, the answer to this one is super easy. It’s all Lily Harlem’s fault. My good friend and fellow writer is probably best known for her Ellora’s Cave series, Hot Ice, which is about hunky ice hockey players. I’ve never even watched ice hockey and I love those books.

Anyway, we chat rather a lot and one day we started batting (if you’ll pardon the pun) the idea of co-authoring around. Lily had co-authored before and enjoyed the experience, and we felt that our writing styles would complement each other. We were both up for it and put it on our to-do lists for when our current projects had been put to bed.

Then, out of the blue, I got an email with a chapter attached to it. Lily was apologetic, saying she knew we’d decided not to start our book yet, but the scene had just popped into her head. I read it, and was immediately hooked. The premise, the characters, the setting. There was only one drawback – it was about a male tennis player and a psychologist. I know very, very little about sports in general and honestly, the only sport I genuinely enjoy is motorbike racing. But Lily quickly reassured me it didn’t matter—we’d write a damn good story and she, as a sports fan, would help me out where necessary on the tennis-y parts of the book. I agreed, and within five weeks we’d completed the first draft of our manuscript, titled Grand Slam. It was an incredibly fun and exhilarating experience, and along the way we’d idly mentioned that we could actually continue with a series. And so Raw Talent was born—a sports romance series. We’d keep it loose, not necessarily only writing about tennis, and not always co-authoring.

So when Ellora’s Cave put a call for submissions out there for lesbian romances for their Hot Pink range, I gave it some thought and decided it would be the perfect opportunity to add another book to the Raw Talent series. One of the characters, Nadia Gorlando, had already appeared in Grand Slam, and the action in Sweet Spot actually overlaps with it slightly. Then, of course, it goes off at its own tangent and a story all its own. I only had a basic idea of what I was going to write, but in the end the novella pretty much penned itself.

I love the versatility of series books already. Grand Slam and Sweet Spot are linked, they have some of the same characters, and yet they’re very different books. They can be read one after the other, or they work perfectly well alone—it’s totally up to readers and what genres and subgenres they like.

Already, I’m thinking about the next book I’d like to write in the series, which I think is going to be a femdom. And that doesn’t even include what Lily and I will come up with for another co-author project. Watch this space!

Happy Reading,
Lucy x

Excerpt:
Nadia Gorlando and I had just gotten off the exercise bikes in the gym when one of the academy’s coaches, Peter Ross, headed over to us, all smiles.

“Hey, Nadia,” he said, his all-American grin widening and his blond hair flopping down over his forehead, “I need a huge favor.”

I flicked my gaze to Nadia. She raised one of her perfectly shaped eyebrows and waited for him to continue. He did.

“I totally lost track of time just now and I have an appointment with Travis Connolly. Would you mind wiping down my machine for me? Or maybe stick a note on it saying it’s out of order? I don’t want to leave it all sweaty for someone else. You’ll be doing me a real solid. I’ll owe you.”

My jaw almost hit the floor.

Now Nadia rolled her eyes, looked over at the offending machine, then back at Peter. “Sure, I understand,” she said, as cool as ice. “The world’s number one can’t wait. Go right ahead—I’ll fix it for you.”
He babbled a load of thanks, then jogged out of the gym.

I gaped at her. “You’re not going to do it, are you?”

Nadia chuckled. “Of course not. He may be coaching Travis Connolly and Rufus Lampani for the US Open, but that doesn’t mean I’m going to clean up his mess.” She pointed with her chin over to the machine Peter had just vacated. “Come on, V, I’ll show you how I’m going to deal with this.”

I followed her, grinning. Her tone told me that it was going to be something fun. Well, for us, anyway. Probably not for Peter.

Sure enough, when she returned from the room off the side of the gym, she had a pad of paper and a pen in her hands. Deliberately shielding the pad from my view, she wrote something down, then pulled off the top sheet. Folding it, she then propped it on the sweat-slicked seat so the writing was on view to anyone who happened past.

When I’d read and absorbed the words, I turned to Nadia, impressed. Her smile lit up her face, showing dimples in each cheek, and her brown eyes gleamed with amusement.

It was in that moment that I decided I had the serious hots for Nadia Gorlando.

The sign read,

PLEASE EXCUSE THE STATE OF THIS MACHINE. PETER ROSS, TENNIS COACH SUPREMO, “LOST TRACK OF TIME”.

A Raw Talent book.
Virginia Miller is an up-and-coming tennis star. She’s gone from a ratty tennis court in a park in south London, England, to the world’s top training facility—Los Carlos Tennis Academy in California. In awe of the talent around her, Virginia is all the more determined to make the most of the opportunity and show that she’s worthy of her place there. Her mentor, Nadia Gorlando, has every faith in her.

But Virginia finds herself distracted—Nadia, as well as being a top-notch tennis player, is seriously sexy, and Virginia’s mind keeps wandering where it shouldn’t. Will her crush get in the way of her career, or can she find a way to push the other woman out of her mind before it’s too late?

A National Aboriginal Day New Release: Don't You Savage Me

June 21st is National Aboriginal Day here in Canada. That's why I've chosen today to release my collection of explicit lesbian romance stories featuring Aboriginal characters.

"Don't You Savage Me" is now available for purchase and, best of all, I will be donating 100% of the royalties I earn to charitable organization working for and with Aboriginal women in Canada.

What sparked the idea to put together a collection that exists solely for the purpose of raising money for Aboriginal women?

Well, if you live in Canada you might have heard about an RCMP report on missing and murdered Aboriginal women. It's a big-fucking-deal.
  • The RCMP say they worked with Statistics Canada and almost 300 policing agencies to produce the report, which found that aboriginal women account for 4.3 per cent of the overall Canadian female population yet account for 16 per cent of female homicides and 11.3 per cent of the cases of missing women.
  • Since 1980 the rate of women who are victims of homicide has trended down, except the rate for aboriginal women, which has increased, the report states.
  • Officials said there have been 1,181 police-recorded incidents of aboriginal homicides and unresolved missing women investigations over the past three decades — a much higher number than previously thought.
  • Source: CBC

For those reading from outside Canada (and I realize a lot of my readers are not Canadian), your impression of this country might be shiny and bright.  We're all so NICE here in Canada, right? But this country, man, it's got its problems.  The United Nations has urged Canada to hold a national inquiry into missing and murdered women.  In fact, the UN has offered a lot of criticisms that have been largely ignored by the Canadian government.

Human rights concerns documented in UN Special Rapporteur's report on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples:

  • "distressing socio-economic conditions" and inadequate funding of health care, housing, education, welfare, and social services for Indigenous communities;
  • over-representation of Indigenous women and men in the prison system;
  • high rates of violence against Indigenous women and girls;
  • exclusion of Indigenous peoples from effective participation in decisions that affect their rights, particularly in respect to resource development;
  • and a federal discourse about taxes and the economy that places Indigenous peoples "outside, and in opposition to, 'Canadian' interests, rather than understanding indigenous people to be an integral aspect of those interests."
The Special Rapporteur also acknowledges historical patterns of "devastating human rights violations" including the residential school policy, which the Report notes "continues to cast a long shadow of despair on indigenous communities."
Source: Amnesty International Canada

That was a bit of a long preamble, wasn't it?  I didn't really plan that. Thanks for sticking around to find out about the anthology itself:

In “Don’t You Savage Me,” bestselling author of the Rainbow Award-winning novel The Red Satin Collection has bundled together six lesbian love stories featuring Indigenous characters.

There’s a little something for every taste, from the sticky-sweet romance between a cop and the girl next door in “Cuff Divers” to the intense heat of “Sugar Bush.” Rusidan learns about her girlfriend’s heritage in “Traditional Inuit Throat Singing” while Emma encounters a legend come to life in the historical romance “To Dream of Her True Love’s face.” A group of girls leave Jansey utterly exhausted in the charming bondage story “Knowing the Ropes.” Charm or no charm, Dina can’t resist rodeo rider Leslie Goosemoon in “Leslie Goosemoon Rides Again.”

All royalties earned by the author on sales of “Don’t You Savage Me” will be donated to charitable organizations allied with Indigenous women in Canada.

I have no preference where you purchase from. It's available from lots of retailers. I'm glad for every copy sold.  Every little bit helps. And if you're not in the position to purchase, tell your friends--especially those who enjoy lesbian erotic romance (it's not always the biggest seller, unfortunately):

Come listen to my story 'bout a book called "Slave Girls"

Now you'll have the Beverly Hillbillies theme song stuck in your head all day. (haha...)

I'm here today to talk to you about a unique investment opportunity.  Nah, just kidding.  Sorry, I'm drunk on balsamic vinaigrette.  I'm actually here to tell you about a new Cleis Press anthology called Slave Girls. It's edited by D.L. King and it includes my BDSM threesome story, Postcards from Paris.

The idea for this story came to me many years ago, when the Art Gallery of Ontario exhibited turn-of-the-century postcards (wait for it...) from Paris!  Here's the thing about turn-of-the-century postcards from Paris: they're kinda naughty. Naked ladies! Lusty nymphs! Ooh la la!

And pubic hair.  Those women boasted tremendous bushes.  In fact, that's a big part of what made these photographs so DIRTY.  Old Masters paintings whitewashed a woman's mound.  A nude's hairlessness made her more art than life.  Those big bushes on French postcards? They were dirty, raunchy, naughty, bad in the most titillating way possible.

Anyway, I attended this exhibit years ago... many years... before I started writing, even.  What re-ignited the idea?  Well, I think it was Clara Callan, the novel by Richard B. Wright.  There's a scene in that book where Clara's man-friend introduces her to the idea of a threesome via... you guessed it... a French postcard.

My story happens to involve a threesome, too.  And pubic hair.  Lots of pubic hair.  Last year, my girlfriend (who refuses the title of Domme, but who can behave in a wonderfully dominating manner nonetheless) instructed me to grow out my pubic hair.  I was not allowed to trim it without her consent (which I did obtain, many months later, when my underwear could no longer contain my tremendous bush).

TMI?

Well, anyway, now that you've got all that background information you'll have to get yourself a copy of Slave Girls and read my story.

Find it at Amazon US, Amazon UK, Amazon Australia

#MySexySaturday It'll Cure What Ails You

Is there anything worse than a boring Sunday afternoon baby shower?

No. The answer to that question is an unequivocal N-O.

Luckily, the topic of this week's My Sexy Saturday happens to be kinky stuff our characters get up to in the afternoon.  Equally luckily, I happen to have written a taboo lesbian story on precisely this topic.

In "It'll Cure What Ails You," lesbian Laurie's aunt-by-marriage Marissa gets hit with some chronic pain during a baby shower. She needs her niece to take care of her...

Here are the first seven sentences of the story:

Laurie had always been intrigued by Auntie Marissa. Maybe it was her glowing olive complexion or her dark wavy hair, which was so thick and lustrous Laurie imagined stripping naked and bathing in it. Just imagine all that shining hair bouncing across her bare skin…

Obviously, Laurie shouldn’t be fantasizing about her aunt, but what else was there to do at Cousin Penny’s lame-ass baby shower? Anyway, Auntie Marissa was only family by marriage, so it wasn’t totally wrong. Was it?

She didn’t realize she was staring until Auntie Marissa caught her gaze from across the room.

#MySexySaturday with Cherry

When I saw the theme of this week's My Sexy Saturday, I jumped for joy.  It fits SO WELL with my new release, Cherry. The theme is characters who take command of the situation, and that's Cherry to a T!

Who says the 18-year-old girl has to be the ingenue who's forced to do naughty things by the brutish older man?  That wasn't me at age 18, and it's certainly not Cherry.

When her father invites his recently-divorced friend Phil along on their annual family camping trip, Cherry's not exactly enthused.  She hasn't seen Phil in a while, and she remembers him as a dorky dad.  When he shows up at the campground... WOW, that is NOT the Phil Cherry remembers.  She wants him, and she's going to get him. Oh yes she is...

Read seven paragraphs from Cherry:

“Why don’t you sit here on my towel?” Cherry asked. “You can put on sunblock for me.”

“Oh, I…” Phil’s face turned bright red, zero to crimson. “I don’t think I… I’ll just get sand in it, then you’ll be itchy all day.”

Cherry looked out over the water. She’d lost sight of her mother. “You don’t want me to burn, do you?”

He didn’t answer. That’s when she knew she had him in her snare. She felt ridiculously guilty as she handed him the sunblock, because she knew this was wrong, but she kind of didn’t care. And, somehow, feeling bad for tempting Phil made her feel good about herself. It didn’t make any sense, but that’s how she felt.

Phil’s body heat blazed against her back as he knelt behind her. “Do you think you could…?”

She glanced over her shoulder to catch him fumbling with the sunblock. “Do I think I could…?”

He chuckled, red-faced, like he was scared of her or something. “Just lift your ponytail so I can get your back?”
