Not the case with Jolene, the paranormal erotic romance I'm here to tell you about today.
Even though I wrote this story a number of years ago, I can tell you exactly where I was sitting when I wrote it. That's because I was pressed right up against an anthology deadline... and I hadn't even STARTED writing this story yet. The call for submissions wasn't asking for, you know, a 2,000-4,000 word short. They were looking for 8-10k.
I must have been working a full-time 9-5 gig in those days, because I remember I wrote this story on a Sunday. It was due Monday. And, I guess because of work and whatever, I hadn't visited my mother in a while.
So this particular Sunday, when I had an entire 8-10k story to write, I carried my gigantic old Dell laptop out to the suburbs to visit my mom. I spent the entire "visit" writing. I think I started indoors, but it was a lovely sunny day outside, so I did a lot of my writing at the patio table out back. Then, when it started getting dark and chilly, I brought the old Dell into the dining room and powered through until I'd written Jolene in its entirety.
Before that day, I had never written more than 8,000 words in one day. Since then? I still haven't. That's the most I've ever written in a day, and I'm sure that's why I remember it so clearly.
Did I get the story polished and submitted in time? Why, yes I did. Was it included in the anthology? Why, yes it was!
And now, all these years later, you can buy Jolene as an ebook. It's an MFM menage dealy with some incubuses... no, that's wrong... incubi? I don't know. What's the plural of incubus?
Anyway, thanks to the fine people at eXcessica Publishing, you can grab yourself (?) a copy today!
