I Want Candy! #erotica #anthology

Let me tell you about the saddest day of my life (but not really).

My mother had an extra ticket to a Blue Jays game and she was trying to convince me to come with her. I am not a baseball fan. In fact, I find baseball intolerably boring. My mother knows this about me. That's why she tried to bribe me... with candy.

This method had worked in the past. "Come to the game. I'll buy you gummy worms!" Candy was such a desirable substance that I would sit through 14 hours of baseball just to get a taste.

Oh, and this is not a story from my childhood. I was like... 27 at the time?

I was a candy-loving grown-up.

So when the day came that I could no longer be tempted by candy, I was really quite sad. I felt like the last remaining vestiges of childhood had fallen away. I loved candy for so long... and then I didn't. The sheen wore off. I learned to love vegetables. No more candy for Giselle.

I admit, I still indulge every so often. But usually, if I want a sweet treat, I'll bake something from scratch. Like somebody's grandma. That's me.

The love of candy will forever live on in my soul. I may not have a taste for the sweet stuff in life, but in fiction? Well, just read my story, Sweet Tooth, in Rachel Kramer Bussel's new anthology Candy Lovers: Sugar Erotica.

You'll see.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07D634BR7?tag=dondes-20

These 35 enticing stories of food play delve into the fun of popular desserts used in the most tactile, sensual ways. These men and women pursue their sexual fantasies, opening wide to indulge an offered treat or presenting their bodies to be used for sticky, arousing, totally hot carnal celebrations.

Whether whipping up the perfect confection in the kitchen, feeding a partner a sweet treat direct from your fingertips (or other body parts) or indulging all their senses in a sugar orgy, the characters in these sexy stories are sure to whet your appetite and turn you on. From couples using dessert to add even more intimacy to their relationships to new passions fueled by a shared love of the pleasures of the tongue, Candy Lovers is sure to arouse you. Edited by the award-winning Rachel Kramer Bussel, these are the perfect erotic tales to read whenever you're in the mood…with your favorite candy nearby.

For Lovers of Ass-Licking Lesbians: Blowing Smoke

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N1SXIYR?tag=dondes-20
I can't begin to tell you how many readers land on my blog after googling "lesbians licking ass" or "anal girls kiss butt" or "do lesbians eat assholes?" or some variation on that theme.

I haven't actually written a ton of anilingus stories, but seeing as there's a demand for girls slathering their tongues in and around other girls' buttholes, I've dreamed up this brand new story for you.

Blowing Smoke is my fave so far.

Don't read it if you're offended by cigarette-smoking, because there's some hardcore smoking fetish stuff in this one. What can I say? It adds a little mystique to the butt play.

The funny thing is, this is actually kind of a sweet love story at its base. I mean, what's lesbian ass licking without a little love?

Blowing Smoke
Lesbian Fetish Erotica
by Giselle Renarde

She worked in a vegan bakery. Tattoos, piercings, plaid shirt, tight jeans. Her black hair was always tied back in a bandana, which made her look like some kind of pin-up princess. She brought me coconut macaroons one day, special delivery. You’ll never believe what happened next. Who’d have guessed two girls on one block could harbor the same desire for blowing smoke and licking ass?

Blowing Smoke is available from a variety of vendors, including:

My love brought me a donut... and then three more...

Happy Valentine's Day To Me!
Remember the other day how I was joking on Twitter that I'm not a V-Day person but if you're going to get me anything it should be a Dairy Queen cake? Well, my Sweet knows me better than I know myself.

What do you buy a writer with a blog called Donuts and Desires?

Why, DONUTS, of course!

They're filled with apples. Jealous?
Happy Valentine's Day, me ol' chums!
Big Hugs,
Giselle

It's been sooo long...

Donuts and Desires is a bit of a tease, according to certain readers who shall remain unnamed (mostly because I can't remember who said it). "Where are the donuts? How can you call yourself Donuts and Desires and have no donuts?"

Fair enough. It's been a very long time since I've featured anything donut-related here at D&D. So today I bring you the...

PECAN
TORTOISE
TORTE

...from Tim Horton's.

Apparently there was some sort of contest and the Pecan Tortoise Torte was the winner.  From the website:
Voted by Canadians as the Duelling Donuts winner, the Pecan Tortoise Torte is now available for a limited time! After 63,000 donut entries, 8 outstanding donut finalists, and 144,000 votes, the winning donut is made with caramel filling, praline pecans and caramel drizzle.

It's got my vote of approval, that's for sure. I thought it would be messy, but it held together very well, even with all the chocolate, drizzle, and pralines on top. The caramel filling was sweet, but not so much that it hurt my teeth.

Good choice, Canada! You know your donuts.

FREE READ: Dildos and Donuts (it's lesbian strap-on sex!)

Because I'm an erotica writer with a blog that's called "Donuts and Desires," a lot of google searches lead here.  I'm talking google seaches for "donut erotica" and "donut sex."

The "donuts" in my blog's name are actually an ode to Canada, Tim Hortons, and Homer Simpsons, but hell, I figured why not try my hand at some donut erotica?  Give the people what they want. That sort of thing.

My lesbian strap-on dildo-sucking donut sex story was originally published on a website called Oysters and Chocolate, but that side doesn't exist anymore, so I guess you'll just have to read it right here!

DONUTS AND DESIRES
Sticky Lesbian Strap-On Cocksucking

by Giselle Renarde

Barb knew how weird I felt about sucking a fake cock.

It just seemed a little silly, getting down on my knees and licking the rubbery tip of her strap-on dildo. I did it because I knew how much it turned Barb on to watch me take that fat cockhead between my lips and imitate fellatio. It was real, to her. Not that she could feel it, but watching me suck was her favourite form of foreplay.

So I did it. For her.

“You gotta embrace the strap-on,” Barb told me as she chopped carrots for the stir-fry.

I picked one up and hugged it, pretending the fat orange veggie was a dildo. “Oh, I love you so much! Kiss, kiss, kiss.”

Laughing, she grabbed it from me. “Don’t play with your food, Missy.”

“Well, I like when you fuck me with the strap-on.” I started unpacking the groceries she’d left on the table. Barb had a habit of putting away anything that had to be refrigerated or frozen, and leaving the rest for me. “Actually, I love it when you fuck me with that thing, especially when you take me from behind and press those little finger vibes against my clit. Oh my God, I come so hard when you do that.”

“Oh yeah?” Barb teased. “I hadn’t noticed.”

I rolled my eyes, reaching into Barb’s shopping bag and pulling out a box of honey crullers. Those definitely weren’t on the list. I held them up and asked, “Donuts?”

“Those are for later,” she said.

The more I looked at the box, the more I wanted one now. “It won’t spoil my appetite if I eat just one.” I whined like a kid, playing with her. “Please, Mommy?”

“No,” she snapped, smiling. “You be a good girl and you can have one after dinner.”

Those donuts were all I could think about. Dinner was delicious, but donuts would be divine. We ate, we washed the dishes, we watched TV, but for some reason Barb kept telling me to wait. “Not yet, not yet. I’ll tell you when.”

Mmm… I could almost taste that honey sweetness on my tongue. I wanted a donut.
Barb turned off the TV and picked up the box of honey crullers en route to our bedroom. That’s when I realized something was up. I can’t believe it took me so long to clue in.

As she undressed, she said, “You know what I’d like to see you wearing? That sheer thing, like a babydoll but kind of slit down the front. You know which one I mean?”

I opened the closet and sorted through the hordes of lingerie I couldn’t stop buying. It was the black babydoll she had in mind. The part that cupped my breasts had buttons at the front, but it was open down my belly, and very see-through, just like the matching g-string. I changed in the walk-in closet because I always liked to make an entrance, and when I opened the door and sprang back out, I think I was more surprised than Barb.

“There are donuts on your dildo!” I said, laughing. There were two of them wrapped like cock rings around that big black dong. It was the most hilariously alluring thing I’d ever seen.

“I know,” she said. “I put them there.”

“Is that what you bought them for?”

She nodded, leaning against the bed. Barb had taken off her pants but not her button-down shirt. She’d done up the harness over her underwear, and tucked her shirttails in at the sides to keep them away from the sticky donuts. What a playful mess I was about to become. I couldn’t wait!

“It’s finally time for dessert, huh?”

“A double dose of dessert,” Barb said with a chuckle as I fell down before her.

“This is the babydoll you were talking about, right?”

The strap-on bobbed when Barb nodded wolfishly, and a nice little drizzle of honey ran down the top of the dildo, pooling when it reached the realistic cockhead.

“Oh God, I need to lick that.” I couldn’t resist. Leaning forward, I extended my tongue just enough to find a little droplet of honey glaze at the base of Barb’s cockhead.

My senses went wild when that sugary syrup hit my tongue. Maybe it was just because I’d been looking forward to those donuts all evening, but I think I had a foodgasm. I licked circles around Barb’s tip, sucking the rubbery plastic for any traces of honey.

When I looked up, Barb was gazing down at me, seeming every bit as hungry as I felt. My belly ached for sweet dough. “May I?”

Barb reached forward to press her sticky fingers to my lips, and I sucked them eagerly. Oh, I wanted sugar. I wanted more and more, and the mingling taste of her skin only added to my desire. She pushed her thumb inside my mouth, and I sucked that too, circling my tongue around and around. Her skin was delicious.

Once I’d licked every trace of sticky sweetness from her fingers, she traced them though my hair, holding my head and guiding me around the side of the dildo.

“Bite,” she instructed, and I did, eagerly.

The buttery donut melted against my tongue, filling my mouth with a gush of warmth. Honey crullers were my favourite, delicate and sweet as gossamer fairy wings. I took another bite, careful only to consume the outside and leave the inner ring intact around Barb’s dildo. The last thing I wanted was for my precious donuts to fall on the floor, so I cupped my hands underneath just in case.

“Now yank it down right to the tip,” Barb said, guiding my head to the other side of the dildo.

I latched on to the donut, but it tore every time I tried to pull it with my teeth. They were finicky, honey crullers. It took more than a little finesse to ease the nearest one down, right down, all the way to the tip.

“Good girl,” Barb said, scratching behind my ear like I was a dog. “Now eat.”

I didn’t need to be asked twice. Wrapping my mouth around the donut and dildo, I sucked, and the pastry melted against my tongue. When I’d swallowed every trace of that first cruller, I just kept sucking, certain I was still tasting honey in the pores of that rubberized plastic.

“Very good,” Barb applauded. “Oh Missy, you look incredible sucking my big cock like that.”

I gurgled, feeling at once pleased and bashful that she was watching me suck her strap-on dildo. Still, I didn’t feel as weird as usual. There was a purpose to my sucking. I was driven by donuts.

“Eat the other one,” Barb instructed me, tracing gentle fingers across my cheek. I shivered at the spark in her touch. I wanted so much to please her.

Arching around the side of the big black dildo, I tore into the second cruller, barely chewing before swallowing the fluffy outer layer. As before, I drew the inner ring of pastry down Barb’s cock and sucked the thing until all traces of donut had disappeared.

“Keep going,” she encouraged, petting my cheek as I sucked the tip. “Oh, you look so good down there. You look so beautiful, baby.”

Those words anchored my arousal. When I looked up to find her gazing down at me with fire blazing in her dark eyes, I came undone. Every insecurity went out the window, and I dove at her fat cock, grabbing the still-sticky base and devouring the shaft. Her mushroom tip tickled my throat, but I wouldn’t gag, not today. High on sugar and lust, I sucked my woman’s fake cock as though it were real, as though the rubber were flesh and the honey was precum. I devoured her hungrily, because I wanted her to feel the love on my lips.

Squeezing her black shaft, I stroked as I sucked, but my sticky palm adhered to the dildo. Every time I shuttled my hand down the strap-on, I ended up whacking the harness against Barb’s mound. She arched beside the bed, her feet sliding against the carpet, moaning incredulously with every pass.

“Yeah, Missy,” she panted. “Don’t stop.”

Her breasts heaved under her shirt as she struggled for breath, but I just kept sucking her dick and pummelling my fist down the shaft. Barb’s harness must have been rubbing or smacking against her clit—I couldn’t tell which—because she issued a steady stream of appreciative curses as her eyes rolled back in her head. She thrust her hips, driving the dildo into my throat, but I didn’t care. I just wanted to get her off and I knew she was close.

“Come for me,” I cried around the dildo’s respectable girth. “Come on, Barb! Make me eat cream.”

Boston cream!

Maybe my words put her over the edge, because Barb’s whole body shuddered against the side of the bed. Trance-like, she closed her eyes, shaking from head to toe.

“Oh yeah!” she cried, running her fingers through my hair, latching on and tugging.
“Fuck yeah, baby. Choke on my jizz.”

And I did choke, not on jizz, but on the dildo shoved halfway down my throat. My eyes watered as I gagged on her length. When Barb finally released me, I fell away from her, staring up through bleary eyes.

I’d never seen Barb so ecstatic from a blow job. It still seemed strange that she could come so hard when I wasn’t even touching her, but her enjoyment made my belly glow with sweetness and warmth.

“Barb,” I asked, like a child. “May I have another donut please?”

She smirked. “You can eat the whole box while I fuck you from behind.”

My pussy belonged to Barb. She could have it wherever and whenever she wanted it, and I always gave myself with the greatest of joy.

Hungry for dildos and donuts, I climbed up the bedcovers and bent over.

In the Month of Meh

Today is April 30th and here in Canada that means taxes are due... like... now.  I spent most of yesterday working on mine, all the while feeling like Homer Simpson in that episode where he gets audited.  Remember that one?  No?

I can't believe I managed to find it online, but here's what I'm talking about (N.B. I used to be like Ned Flanders): http://vimeo.com/34934693

Taxes aside, I'm ready for the coming of May.

For me, April's been the month of "meh"--especially when it comes to reviews.  In my years of writing, I've had my share of 1-star reader reviews, and I've had my share of 5-star reviews, but this April has been the month of three.  Or, on a scale of poor, fair, ok, good, excellent my work has garnered an "ok." Meh.  Everywhere I look, I see "meh."

Even books like "Friends of Dorothy" (my cross-dressing cowboy MMF menage) which has garnered nothing but 5 stars in the year or two it's been on the market seems to have been slapped with a three.  More "meh."  Not that readers can't rate my books however they please, it just seems like a trend this month.

Maybe I should just shut my gob and count my blessings--my threes could be ones.  My mehs could be baaaaads.  (Although, when it comes to other authors' books, I find I only read 1-star reviews.  Does anybody else do that?  I never read the 5-stars.  Am I the only one?)

Work aside, May Day happens to be the four-year anniversary of my first date with my Sweet.  Stay tuned, because tomorrow I'll let you know how we're planning to celebrate--and it involves YOU.  In fact, we can't do it without you.

So be here tomorrow, same bat wings, same leopard leggings... or... how does that go? *smirk*

Hugs,
Giselle

Giselle's Savoury Pancake Day Recipe

Mmm.... pancakes.

For dinner this evening, I whipped up a batch of delicious savoury pancakes and they were so super-yummy I'm sharing my makeshift recipe with you. It's never too late for pancakes.

A lot of recipes I see online start with photos, so here is a picture of what Giselle's Savoury Pancake Day Pancakes look like when you're done (eating):

I probably should have taken the picture before I started eating... but now I know for next time.

Giselle's Savoury Pancake Day Pancakes

Ingredients:

Dry~
1 cup flour
2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
fresh cracked pepper to taste (I used A LOT because I love pepper)

Wet~
1 cup milk
1 egg
2 tbsp oil (I used olive oil) + more oil for frying (again, I used olive)

AND grated cheese to taste (I used probably more than a cup, and a combination of old cheddar and havarti but, again, I love cheese. You use what you want.)

Instructions:

1. Combine dry ingredients and add wet
2. Mix until your batter isn't lumpy
3. Fold in your cheese(s)
4. Panfry in oil at medium or low-med heat, turning once.
(Note: If you choose to fry in olive oil, take care. Olive oil can be fussy and it'll burn at high temperatures. I use it for pancakes (and grilled cheese and pretty much everything else) because it creates an incomparable crispiness and I love the taste.)
5. For the love of god, don't burn anything! (including yourself)
6. Eat and enjoy.

Woo! There you have it. I should write a cookbook.

Hugs,
Giselle

New Option for Authors: Advertise with Donuts and Desires

I've been toying with the idea of offering ad space here at Donuts and Desires for years, and every time I've thought about it I've ended up talking myself out of it. Why? Well, when I was a "young" author ("new" author might be a better way of putting it) I was always on the lookout for free promotional opportunities. Heck, I still am. That's why I've been committed to providing free promo ops to other authors for as long as I've had this blog.

Here's the thing: I've been listening in on a lot of back room chats among authors like myself, and what I've gleaned in recent months is that authors are looking for affordable ad space at blogs readers AND other authors frequent (like this one).

Promo opportunities, like my Quick Six interviews, my holiday "Festive Frenzy" and the various LGBTQ-oriented promotional possibilities I make available throughout the year are fun, BUT... authors want more--banner ads, static cover ads, image-oriented advertising that stays up on a blog for months at a time.

So this time when I rolled the idea of offering ad space at Donuts and Desires around in my brain, I decided not to talk myself out of it.

That's right, starting now I'm opening up AFFORDABLE ad space at Donuts and Desires.

What's available?

At the moment, we've got 3 options:

Cover Ads

Your cover ad will appear on the sidebar at Donuts and Desires--ABOVE my own book covers on the first row and ABOVE my antho covers on the second! (You're just that special!) The ad will consist of your book cover linked to a destination url of your choice as well as the title spelled out above and a descriptor of 8 words or fewer below, if desired.

Cover Ads Pricing:
One Month: $5 US or Canadian Currency or £3.25 GBP (yes, I can accept payment in 3 currencies--awesome, right?)
Six Months: $25 US or Canadian Currency or £16 GBP

Bottom Banner Ads

Look down... look waaaaay down! Donuts and Desires now offers the option of placing your banner, whether it be for your book, your website, your blog, your llama farm (actually, let's just stick to books and related services LOL) at the base of all site pages. You can send me the html or the image with a destination url--whatever works for you.

Banner Ads Pricing:
Twelve Months (a.k.a One Year): $25 US or Canadian Currency or £16 GBP (That's an amazing deal!)

Ad placements may be limited and prices are subject to change, so act fast to secure your spot. Payments can be accepted via PayPal only.

Quick Six Interviews

You know I've got to offer up a freebie, right? Quick Six interviews are featured on Mondays at D&D. Just answer six of the following questions (I repeat, SIX, not five, not ten, but SIX) and send 'em IN THE BODY OF YOUR EMAIL to the address below. At the bottom of the post I will also feature your author blurb and websites--so you'll have to send those along as well. No attachments, please.

It's free, so take advantage!

The Best Lesbians Are The Best!

I can't recall if I ever mentioned that I have a story in Best Lesbian Erotica 2011. Have I said that already? Seems like something I might have shouted from the rooftops, but I just don't remember doing it.

The collection, edited by Kathleen Warnock, introduced and selected by Lea DeLaria, and published as always by Cleis Press, has been receiving wonderful reviews and was recently named a finalist for a Lambda Literary award in the Lesbian Erotica category. You can check out all finalists in all categories here: http://www.lambdaliterary.org/awards/2011-finalists/

I also noticed the other day, when I was on the Toronto Public Library's website, that they've ordered five copies. If you're in the city and you've got your library card handy, place a hold on a copy here: http://www.torontopubliclibrary.ca/detail.jsp?Entt=RDM2742851&R=2742851.

And if you're not in Toronto, check out your library system and see if they've ordered copies. If not, you can always ask them to. Or you could buy a copy for yourself, of course.

Hugs,
Giselle Renarde

Don't Freak Out. Change is Good!

Hi Everybody!

So...uh...notice anything different around here?

Yup, that's right: I changed the look of my blog. It was red before, remember? The header was red and green. I did that for Christmas, when I held my "Festive Frenzy" holiday extravaganza.

Well, I'm always the last person I know to take down my Christmas tree, so it should be come as no surprise that it's taken me until March to take down the "decorations" from the blog.

I like the new look...for now...but I have a fear of commitment, so we'll see how long this one lasts. LOL

Anyhoo, yes this is Donuts & Desires. Same you, same me. Nothing's changed but the window dressings.

Hugs,
Giselle

Just Call Me Giselle Renarde-Simpson

I didn't call my blog Donuts & Desires solely as a tribute to the pastries at Tim Hortons--although, yes, that was a huge consideration. I also happen to be a big fan of The Simpsons, so the "Donuts" in D&D is in part a tip of the hat to Homer at al.

When I discovered you can make your own Simpsons avatar at http://www.simpsonsmovie.com I thought WOWEE! I want me one of those! I think the program is a little funky with my Mac, but here I am rockin' a fine pink donut T-shirt with my good pal Homer and assorted lovable creeps.

Just call me Giselle Renarde-Simpson!
By the way, I know I look wasted, but that's actually my sexy look. I am totally coming on to you!

Gifts for Twits

Need a gift for that special Twit in your life? Well, step right up ladies and germs, and pick up a pair of the hottest gloves known to Twitterdom! That's right, they're...

twittens!

(Ahem...yes, but they're gloves, not mittens...sorry, what were you saying?)

According to twittens.ca (Hey, they're Canadian so they must be awesome!):
twittens are truly the gloves of the text generation: easily access your thumb and/or forefinger to allow for easy texting, photography and endless other things - even in the coldest weather.
Well, there you have it! Perfect for eating donuts, too. They're the gift that'll make your Christmas grand, and you can buy them...uh...hmm...well, actually the online store isn't set up yet and the only retail locations are in Belleville and London, Ontario, so...

Sorry, forget I said anything. You can't have them. You didn't really want them anyway, did you?

Oh, a wise guy, eh? nyuk, nyuk, nyuk.

Quick Six TNG with Seleste deLaney

1. What does "vanilla" mean to you?

Vanilla means a lot of things, but the primary one is "waiting for more". I love vanilla ice cream because it's the perfect base for some really decadent additions, I suppose the same can be said of vanilla sex.

2. Is there any moment from your life that you remember in slow motion?

Haha. The moment in my wedding where the minister forgot my husband's name. That was the longest minute or less of my life, and every time I remember it, it gets longer.

3. What's the most unsettling movie you've ever seen?

Arachnophobia, but that's only because I am arachnophobic and my "friends" forced me to watch it. I had nightmares for weeks. On a less silly note, Se7en. The part that got to me was how well the killer played Brad Pitt's character. Serial killers both repel and fascinate me because to be successful at it, a certain level of brilliance is necessary, and there is nothing scarier to me than a crazy genius.

4. If you had to get a tattoo on your face, what would you want it to look like?

A phoenix (preferably in a tribalized style). I like the phoenix both because of its meaning--rebirth from the ashes. As someone who has struggled with depression, that's very empowering. Plus, one of my characters has a phoenix tattoo on her cheek, so it would have another level of meaning for me.

5. How many monkeys jumping on the bed?

Now that depends entirely on my mood, but tonight I say the more the merrier.

6. Which of the books or stories you've written is your favourite?

I hate this question. I love all my stories for all sorts of reasons. Right now, Of Course I Try holds a special place in my heart both because it was my first release and because people have responded to it so favorably. It's available right now at www.DecadentPublishing.com.

Love is a wonderful thing. Unless you don't get a choice in the matters of your own heart.

Jocelyn has loved Max since the day she met him. Even when he scares her enough to leave, she can't resist going back. No matter how many times she tries to break free from him, she ends up in his arms and bed again. Not this time. Jocelyn needs to be free and Max isn't going to stop her from walking away -- no matter how hard he tries.

Yes, Annette, there is a Donut Warehouse!

Move over, Timmy. Annette is in town, and she’s got Raspberry Jelly-Filled donuts. In fact, she’s got more variety than you can shake your hockey stick at!

Who is Annette? Umm… I’m not sure, but she makes some damn fine donuts right here in Toronto. According to her website, http://annettesdonuts.com, Annette’s Donuts is a family-owned company that’s been in business for over 25 years.

The reason I’m writing about her is that, aside from making truly delicious donuts, she’s just opened a cash and carry at right at the factory location:

1965 Lawrence Avenue West, Toronto Ontario
(between Jane St and Weston Rd)

Now, friends, I LOVE factory outlets. I’m talking true factory outlets, where you buy goods straight off the line. That’s what you’re in for when you visit Annette’s. The donuts are the freshest of the fresh, I tell you.

The entrance to Annette’s cash and carry is a little clinical, I must say, but “clean” and “food” go well together, don’t you think? When you enter the little lobby, there’s a small wall of windows. On the other side of those windows sit every variety of donut you could dream of… unless you have some seriously bizarre donut dreams. Prices are on the windows, and these prices seem to include tax.

Alright, now you know what you want. If you’re me today, you want a package of 6 Bavarian Creams and a package of Annette’s signature Glazed Ring donuts. You tell the order-taking triage nurse what you would like (seriously, this place reminds me of a hospital) and you get your delicious donuts.

Let’s talk money. Are you getting a great deal at the cash and carry? Yes and no. I paid $2 for my 6 Bavarians. That seems like a great deal. I paid $1 for my 6 glazed rings. That’s a steal. However, you can get buy that same pack of 6 Annette’s glazed donuts for the same price at many No Frills supermarkets in the western part of the city.

So, is Annette’s worth the trip? GOD, YES!!! Why? Prices are low, selection was awesome even at 15 minutes before closing time, and these donuts are the freshest you can get. If you live in or around Toronto, hop on over to Annette’s. You won’t regret it. Unless you eat a 6-pack of Chocolate Crullers all in one sitting. You might regret that.

Raspberry Jelly

Have you noticed that, on a blog called “Donuts and Desires,” I have yet to make a single post about…

…donuts?…

“Raspberry Jelly,” AKA “What’s a girl gotta do to get a jelly-filled donut around here?”

Confused yet? I’m talking about Tim Horton’s, the pride of Canada, birthplace of rrroll-up-the-rrrim (which I never win, by the way), THE place to go for coffee and a donut. So, if Tim Hortons is the donut capital of Canada, I have to ask the question: Where have all the donuts gone?

In a donut shop, you expect to find donuts. Am I right? When I go into Tim Horton’s these days, I look out into the sea of bagel and cookies, dismayed by the distinct lack of variety where donuts are concerned. Sure, there are a few crullers, some Plain Jane old-fashioneds, a few Boston Creams if you’re lucky, but never jelly-filleds.

You are familiar with the donuts I’m referring to, are you not? They’re shaped like a hockey puck, filled with raspberry jelly and doused in icing sugar. The quintessential donut. Homer’s delight.

So where are they? What happened to them? I’d assumed Timmy’s had simply out every time I was here, that they weren’t baking enough of these delicious morsels. Yesterday I was at the drive-thru with my sister (and don’t get my started on the environmental abomination that is the drive-thru – that’s a story for another day).

At any rate, since we were at the drive-thru, my sister ordered a donut blindly (a free donut, by the day. SHE always wins roll-up-the-rim. Some girls have all the luck!) She ordered a raspberry jelly-filled. The disembodied voice at the other end of the intercom replied, “We don’t carry those.”

Don’t carry them? Don’t carry the powdered raspberry jelly-filled donut? The donut of kings? What is the world coming to when the quintessential donut shop stops carrying the quintessential donut? I can only hope the disembodied voice was referring to that location only. I just can’t bring myself to believe every Timmy’s could stop carrying this variety, even if the icing sugar does coat your clothes and the jelly does spurt out of the pastry.

And what ever happened to the Tim Horton’s of yore? The Tim Horton’s of my childhood? The Timmy’s where you walked in the door, greeted by the scent of freshly-baked mounds of sugary dough? (Ok, that’s a false memory – the sickly smell of cigarettes, more like.) Most importantly, what happened to those colourful fields of donuts?

Ah, but nothing golden-brown can stay… especially if it’s sprinkled with sugar and filled with raspberry jelly.

Mission Statement

Whenever you spearhead a new project you're supposed to start with a mission statement, right? So, what's my mission for Donuts and Desires? Well, perhaps I should introduce myself first: Hi! I'm Giselle and I write erotica. There. Now that the formalities are over with, I can describe my mission. My mission... my mission... how obvious is it that I'm procrastinating?

Before I get to my mission, why don't I tell you why I chose Donuts and Desires as a blog title? That part's easy. The desires are tied to my profession, weaving erotic tales for the discerning reader. I'm sure I'll be writing a great deal about... well, writing. The donuts are twofold: firstly, they're a signifier of my Canadian identity. After all, my slogan is, "Canada just got hotter!" Also, donuts remind me of a beloved yellow cartoon character, and I quote the Simpsons a lot. It's an affliction. I try not to let it affect my writing too much.

Back to the mission statement. Hmm...

Well, maybe I don't need a mission. Maybe I can just come here to procrastinate, share some thoughts on the frustrations of writing and the even greater frustrations of publishing, procrastinate, eat donuts, discuss Canadian-ness, procrastinate and connect with my readers and with everyone who's never heard of me.

But the above is not a mission, just a plan, and I can't stick to a plan, so...
