Call for Submissions: Female Fantasy Erotica

A couple days ago, I posted Rachel Kramer Bussel's other call for subs with a March 1st deadline, which you can read here. Today it's Female Fantasy Erotica:

Call for Submissions: Female Fantasy Erotica, March 1 deadline
To be published by Cleis Press

This collection of erotica will feature female protagonists living out their hottest fantasies. From vanilla kinky, single to partnered, from 18 to elderly, I'm looking for stories of all sorts of women (transgender characters are also welcome) exploring new aspects of their sexuality. For inspiration, feel free to check out a list by Violet Blue of common sexual fantasies, but stories must capture what about that particular fantasy for that particular character is so compelling and make it red-hot to work for this book, and authors are encouraged to be creative, daring and provocative with exploring the definition of fantasy and how it plays out for your character. All characters should be over 18. No nonconsensual scenes. No bestiality, scat or incest. No poetry. Please see my anthologies Orgasmic, Women in Lust, and Fast Girls for examples of the kinds of stories I'm looking for. Unpublished stories only (this includes blogs and websites).

How to submit: Send double spaced Times or Times New Roman 12 point black font Word document with pages numbered (.doc, not .docx) OR RTF of 1,500-4,000 word story. Indent the first line of each paragraph half an inch and double space (regular double spacing, do not add extra lines between paragraphs or do any other irregular spacing). US grammar (double quotation marks around dialogue, etc.) required. Only submit your final, best version of the story you are submitting. Do not send multiple versions of the same story. Include your legal name (and pseudonym if applicable), mailing address, and 50 word or less bio in the third person to fantasyantho@gmail.com. If you are using a pseudonym, please provide your real name as well as your pseudonym and make it clear which one you’d like to be credited as. For the smoothest editorial process, please double check that the byline you are using with your submission is the byline you'd want published. You will receive a confirmation within 72 hours. I will get back to you by September 2014. I cannot give any feedback on rejected submissions.

Payment: $50 and 2 copies of the book on publication

Deadline: March 1, 2014 (earlier submissions strongly encouraged)

Call for Submissions: Take This Man (gay erotic romance)

Hi everybody!  I'm back from vacation.  Did ya miss me?

I got permission from editor Neil Plakcy to tell you about his upcoming anthology, Take This Man.  As soon as I saw this call for submissions, I started writing.  Maybe you will too:

Call for Submissions: Take This Man

The editor of Active Duty, Beach Bums and other anthologies seeks romantic erotica focused on male couples in committed relationships.

Many erotic stories focus on the thrill of first contact—but Take This Man will be different, looking at how much sexier an encounter can be when the two men involved have been together for long enough to make a commitment to each other.  Formalized or not, the fact remains that when you know what turns your partner on, and vice versa, your encounters can be even hotter, especially when you factor in the emotional component.

The anthology will be published by Cleis Press in time to celebrate the first-year anniversary of the decision knocking down the DOMA.

Story length:  3,000 – 5,000 words
Deadline:  December 1, 2013
Publication Date:  Fall, 2014
Payment:  $60.00 per story, payable on publication, plus 1 copy of the book

You may forward this call to other erotica writers you know. Submit your story to Neil Plakcy at plax@bellsouth.net as a MS word attachment.

*EXTENDED* Call for Submissions: Sex Objects

Delilah Devlin has extended her call for Sex Objects: An Anthology of Erotic Romance Stories from July 1st to July 15th.  I didn't think I would have time to write anything up for this one, but with the extension, I think I'll have a go:

*~*~*~*~*~*
Sex Objects: An Anthology of Erotic Romance Stories
Editor: Delilah Devlin
Publisher: Cleis Press in Spring 2014
Deadline: July 1, 2013 July 15, 2013

Sex Objects: An Anthology of Erotic Romance Stories is open to all authors.

Editor Delilah Devlin is looking for hetero stories for a romantic erotica
anthology tentatively entitled Sex Objects: An Anthology of Erotic Romance
Stories.

High powered, high ranking...and in high heels.

The term "Sex Object" brings to mind a curvaceous starlet on a casting couch
or an iconic, bee-stung-lipped beauty being pursued by a powerful, capable
man. Turn that concept upside down by allowing the woman to objectify a
handsome, sensual man, using the concepts of role reversal and power play
but from a female perspective, and you have the makings of something
evocative and fun for the feminine, romance reading audience.

Imagine powerful women unafraid of going after the men they want...
* A beautiful divorcee stepping out for the first time as a single woman
with a paid male escort.
* The movie producer using the casting couch to lure the latest movie heart
throb into a torrid affair.
* A university professor calling a male grad student into conference to
discuss his "thesis. "
* A worldly corporate boss asking for "dictation&quo t; from her personal
assistant.

These women will be masters of their own domain, in charge and
proud...capable of using sex for pleasure' s sake...but ultimately succumbing
to the pull of desire created by the "objects" of their desire.

Sex Objects will seek contemporary stories, although the editor is open to a
futuristic or historical. Exotic, international settings will be considered.
Traditional themes/tropes can be used, but writers are encouraged to create
tales that surprise. Delilah seeks unique stories from authors with strong
voices, and above all, she's looking to be seduced by tales filled with
vivid imagery and passion.

Published authors with an established world may use that setting for their
original short story.

Keeping in mind that this volume is targeted at women, the editor seeks
mainly hetero stories, but will consider bisexual or lesbian encounters and
polyamorous relationships. This is erotic romance, so don't hold back on the
heat. Stories can be vanilla or filled with kink, but a deep sensuality
should linger in every word-and don't miss describing the connection between
strong-willed individuals learning to trust and love one another. Keep in
mind there must be a romantic element with a happy-for-now or
happy-ever-after ending. Strong plots, engaging characters, and unique
twists are the ultimate goal. Please no reprints. These must be original
stories.

How to submit: Prepare your 1,500 to 4,500 words story in a double-spaced,
Arial, 12 point, black font document with pages numbered (.doc, NOT.docx) OR
rich text format. Indent the first line of each paragraph half an inch and
double space (regular double spacing, do not add extra lines between
paragraphs or do any other irregular spacing). US grammar (double quotation
marks around dialogue, etc.) is required.

In your document at the top left of the page, include your legal name (and
pseudonym if applicable), mailing address, and 50 words or less bio in the
third person to realsexobjects@ gmail.com. If you are using a pseudonym,
please provide your real name and pseudonym and make it clear which one
you'd like to be credited as. Authors may submit up to 2 stories. Delilah
will respond in December 2013. The publisher has final approval over the
stories included in the manuscript.

Payment will be $50.00 USD and two copies of the published book upon
publication.

About the editor: Ms. Devlin has published over a hundred and twenty stories
in multiple sub-genres and lengths with Atria/Strebor, Avon, Berkley, Black
Lace, Cleis Press, Ellora's Cave, Kensington, Kindle, Montlake Romance,
Running Press, and Samhain Publishing. In Fall 2011, she debuted her first
anthology with Cleis Press, GIRLS WHO BITE. Since then, she has published
SHE SHIFTERS and COWBOY LUST. SMOKIN' HOT FIREFIGHTERS and HIGH OCTANE
HEROES release in summer 2013.

Direct any questions you have regarding your story or the submission process
to Delilah at realsexobjects@ gmail.com.

Call For Submissions: Femme Dominant Lesbian Erotica

I don't want to stress you out or anything, but here's another call for submissions from D. L. King:

She Who Must Be Obeyed: Femme Dominant Lesbian Erotica
Edited by D. L. King
To be published by Lethe Press
Deadline: August 19, 2013
Payment: $50 plus 2 copies of the anthology
D. L. King wants to read about dominant femmes.
There’s something about a hot, sexy woman in a pencil skirt, flawlessly made-up, wielding a riding crop.  Well, I think there is.  I know, for me, sometimes it’s hard to decide between the black leather pencil skirt and the black rubber one.  You know what I mean.  I’m talking about a woman worshipped by girls, bois and butch bottoms, alike; I’m not particular – well, not that particular.
Tell me stories about women who can silence a room simply by entering it.  What’s it like when a mere glance can make you weak in the knees and a stare will put you in your place – at her feet.  I’m looking for power exchange as seen from either the femme’s point of view or her worshipper’s.
Tell me about torture and about goddess worship. Tell me about pleasing and being pleased.  I want stories with sexy lingerie and boxer briefs, strap-ons and bound bodies.  I want to hear about crops and whips, corsets and trousers, fingers and tongues.  You know what I want; I want to sweat.  Of course, it should go without saying that characters must be at least 18, no scat and no snuff.  Just make me happy—and damp.
Stories should be between 2,500 and 4,000 words, double-spaced, 12 pt Times New Roman. Please indent the first line of each paragraph one-half inch and do not include extra lines between paragraphs. No fancy fonts, no weird sizes, no bizarre formatting, no strange colors, please. Do not put a cover sheet on your story.
Send your story as a .doc (NOT a .docx) attachment and include the title, pseudonym (if applicable) and your legal name and mailing address to femmeantho@gmail.com. The subject line should read: Submission: TITLE. Please include a 50 word bio. Direct any questions to the same address. (If you are absolutely unable to send a .doc attachment, I will accept an rtf.)

Please cross post, anywhere and everywhere!

Call for Submissions: The Big Book of Domination

I can't keep up with all the calls for submissions these days!  The following comes from the 2013 Lambda Award-winning D. L. King:

I have a new call for submissions.  Please feel free to cross post anywhere and everywhere.  Also, I'll have a call for lesbian erotica in a couple of days, so keep watching this space!

The Big Book of Domination
Edited by D. L. King
To be published by Cleis Press
Deadline: August 1, 2013
Payment: $50 plus 2 copies of the anthology

D. L. King is looking for sexy stories of domination in all its various nuances and permutations.  I’m talking about those who were born to be dominant and those who had dominance thrust upon them; men dominating women and women dominating men, as well as same-sex domination. Write about pros and amateurs (in the strictest sense of the word, as in “lover of…”)  Write about married folks and hook ups.  Write about subs made to train that new, young, household addition. See if you can surprise me; think of something I wouldn’t, but do it artfully. Bottom line?  It has to be hot.

This is the Big Book of Dominance, so I want it all.  Stories from the dominant’s point of view and stories from the submissive’s point of view.  Stories about jaded pros remembering what that first spark was all about and stories about new guys, just learning the ropes.  This book will be primarily straight but, like I said, I’m interested in a few gay, lesbian and bi stories, too.  It should go without saying that characters must be at least 18, no scat, no snuff and, just so you know, I'm not a big fan of water sports.  (That doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy the occasional artfully told enema story)  Just make me happy--make me wet.

Stories should be between 1,500 and 3,500 words, double-spaced, 12 pt Times New Roman. Please indent the first line of each paragraph one-half inch and do not include extra lines between paragraphs. No fancy fonts, no weird sizes, no bizarre formatting, no strange colors, please. Do NOT put a cover sheet on your story.

Send your story as a .doc (NOT a .docx) attachment and include the title, pseudonym (if applicable) and your legal name and mailing address to dominantantho@ gmail.com.  The subject line should read: Submission: STORY TITLE. Please include a bio of 50 words or less. Direct any questions to the same address. Original stories only. (If you are absolutely unable to send a .doc attachment, I will accept an rtf.)

Hope to hear from you,

Call for Submissions: Porn Studies (a new journal dedicated to the study of pornography)

Another call for submissions!

I lifted this one from Tristan Taormino's site. On twitter, she said "Please share!" and if there's one thing I'm good at, it's telling other writers about new opportunities.  So, for the academics in the crowd, a new journal devoted to the study of porn:

Routledge-Logo-2
The editors, Feona Attwood (Middlesex University) and Clarissa Smith (University of Sunderland), and Routledge are pleased to announce the launch of a new journal devoted to the study of pornography.
Porn Studies is the first dedicated, international, peer-reviewed journal to critically explore those cultural products and services designated as pornographic and their cultural, economic, historical, institutional, legal and social contexts. Porn Studies will publish innovative work examining specifically sexual and explicit media forms, their connections to wider media landscapes and their links to the broader spheres of (sex) work across historical periods and national contexts.

Porn Studies is an interdisciplinary journal informed by critical sexuality studies and work exploring the intersection of sexuality, gender, race, class, age and ability. It focuses on developing knowledge of pornographies past and present, in all their variations and around the world. Because pornography studies are still in their infancy we are also interested in discussions that focus on theoretical approaches, methodology and research ethics. Alongside articles, the journal includes a forum devoted to shorter observations, developments, debates or issues in porn studies, designed to encourage exchange and debate.

Porn Studies invites submissions for publication, commencing with its first issue in Spring 2014. Articles should be between 5000 and 8000 words. Forum submissions should be 500-1500 words. Book reviews should be between 800 and 1500 words. Submissions will be refereed anonymously by at least two referees.

In the first instance submissions, queries and suggestions should be sent to: editorspstudies@gmail.com

Call for Submissions: Good Vibrations "Quickies" Short Erotic Film Competition

I know most of you are readers and many of you are writers, but do we have any filmmakers in the house?  Or any aspiring filmmakers?  I came across this call for submissions for Good Vibrations' short erotic film competition and figured I'd share it, just in case:

Spring is in the air, so if you’ve got the fever, grab a camera and let’s have a Quickie!

Good Vibrations Quickies Erotic Shorts Competition wants you to show us what you think is “erotic” – sexy, saucy, funny, bizarre or whatever — in any genre or orientation in 7 minutes or less. Finalists will be screened at the Castro Theatre on Friday, October 25th 2013, where the Audience Choice Winner will receive $1,500.

Funny, serious, romantic, cynical, straight, gay, queer, documentary, international, etc. – if it’s 7 minutes or LESS send it our way! (extra points for early entry)

WHO SUBMITS
Independent film makers of all kinds are encouraged to send in their short erotic films.  Whether you’re an established indie filmmaker, an art student, a budding filmmaker, or just having fun with your Flipcam, we want to see your stuff!

WHAT IS EROTIC, ANYWAY?
The term is as broad as the number of people considering it, so whether it’s an arty narrative, stand-up comedy, soft lovemaking, or hard core fucking, if it turns you on, it’s erotic. Funny, serious, romantic, cynical, straight, gay, queer, bring it on.  Animation, documentary, short fiction, music video are all fair game.  See official Submission Rules.  Submissions must be 7 minutes or less.

Call For Submissions: MOON SHOT Mystery Anthology

I'm sorting through the emails I allowed to pile up while I devoted all my time to my "unplanned book" (a novella, done in two weeks!), and guess what?  I came across this sci-fi/mystery call for submissions from my mainstream publisher.  I'm pleased to pass it along:
Untreed Reads is pleased to announce a call for submissions.

Moon Shot: Murder and Mayhem on the Edge of Space will be a short story anthology showcasing mystery and crime stories that combine the genres of science fiction and mystery/crime/suspense. We're looking for great stories that take these genres into new territory, whether on our planet or another.

Please note that we have already accepted a story that takes place on the International Space Station, therefore we are not looking for any other stories that do (it was the inspiration for this call).

This is an open call and may be reposted anywhere and everywhere. This anthology is expected to be published in August of 2013.

This anthology will be edited by J. Alan Hartman, Editor-in-Chief of Untreed Reads and the editor of the bestselling anthologies The Killer Wore Cranberry, The Killer Wore Cranberry: A Second Helping and Year's End.

1. All stories must be between 1500-5000 words.
2. Deadline for submission for consideration is May 30, 2012. This is a firm date; no submissions after this date will be considered.
3. All submissions should be sent to Jay Hartman at jhartman@untreedreads.com with the words MOON SHOT in the subject line.
4. Stories may take place in the past, present or future of our galaxy, but may not introduce aliens or undiscovered planets. Stories may take place on Earth, but must be somehow related to the space program if they are.
5. Stories should lean more towards mystery/suspense/thriller than the science fiction side.
6. Submissions must be in DOC, RTF or ODT format.
7. We will not be publishing the stories individually. Only the anthology will be available.
8. Authors will receive royalty, but not upfront payment. Authors will each receive a share of royalties of 50% of net (net = cover price - vendor commission) based on the number of authors in the final anthology.
9. Characters appearing in other Untreed Reads series or other series not published by us are strongly encouraged. Please check your contract with your publisher to make sure you may legally do so.
10. Stories not used for the anthology may be resubmitted for future calls.
11. Previously published works are fine providing that electronic rights have reverted to the author.
12. Stories currently published through a self-publishing venue (i.e.: Smashwords, Amazon KDP, etc.). will not be accepted.
13. There are no restrictions whatsoever on age, race, sex, sexual orientation, etc in the work.. Just tell us a great story!

Best,
Jay Hartman

Call for Submissions: BBC Trans Script Opportunity for TV Writers!

This is ridiculously exciting: the BBC is looking for pitches from script writers. Why?  Because they want to develop "an original full-length comedy sitcom, comedy drama or sketch show... featuring transgender characters"!

I'll say that again: the BBC wants to read YOUR script involving trans characters or themes!

I may be Canadian, but I watch more BBC-produced programming than anything else.  What an amazing opportunity to present trans characters the way YOU want.  We've all had enough of clueless writers giving us dimensionless "tranny" punch lines and punching bags.  YOU can do better, and I want to see it!

And, more importantly, so does the BBC.

There are certain caveats to submission.  You need to be over 16 (and if you're not, you shouldn't be reading this adults-only blog, so go away for a few years! *smile*), and you need to live in the UK, or at least be prepared to move there for a couple years.

You've got until the end of February to get your script in, so get a move on!

All the details are on the BBC's website, here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/writersroom/about/transcomedy-award-terms-and-conditions

Break a leg!

Calls for Submission: To Do by February 1st (and a bonus video!)

It's going to be a busy week and a half.  Throughout January, my writing pace has been painfully slow, but I've got multiple short stories on my Calls for Submissions To Do list.  If you happen to be my Bizarro Jerry and you're just aching to write, here's what's on my plate:

Mitzi Szereto is looking for zombie erotica for Love, Lust and Zombies. Undeadline (haha) is February 1st. Read all about it here.

Alison Tyler wants 2000-4K bondage stories, deadline February 1st. Details are on Alison's blog.

I already submitted my story to Smut for Chocaholics, but it looks like the deadline has been extended to February 1st? (I had it down as January 12th).  Also, the url I had for it doesn't work anymore, but this one does: http://sexyreads.co.uk/smut-for-chocoholics  Anyway, they're looking for 4-6k chocolate-themed erotica.  Read more here.

And while we're talking Smutters, Lucy Felthouse and Victoria Blisse have a call out for Smut by the Sea Volume 2.  Also due February 1st, also 4-6k erotica.  Details here.

Tenille Brown's Can't Get Enough anthology has a mid-February deadline, but I honestly couldn't wait to write a story for her.  I started the day I saw the call.  Find out more here.

Beyond the erotic realm, there are three February 28th deadlines I'd like to draw your attention to over at Chicken Soup for the Soul.  I can't say I'll be sending in anything for Devotional Stories for Wives, largely because I'm no one's wife (but, oh, I love my life... and all that jazz) and also because my official religion is "no religious affiliation," but I encourage other queer women to go for it.  The Chicken Soup people surprised me in the past by publishing a story of mine strongly rooted in queer and genderqueer themes, so I always encourage LGBTQ writers to throw their work into the ring.  If you, like me, are neither wife nor Christian, then you might be more interested in submitting to their collections Lemons to Lemonade or Holiday Stories. For these and other possible books, do click here.

And now, the video you've all been waiting for... the woman who would be my wife if she only took the time to get to know me, and all that jazz... Bebe Neuwirth:

Call for Submissions: True Sex Essay Anthology

Reposted with permission from Lusty Lady:

True sex essay anthology deadline extended to January 6th (earlier submissions get priority)

Desperate times call for desperate measures, so though I had so hoped to be done with this anthology by tomorrow, I'm still one third short on my word count. That means I'd love it if you'd spread the word (either en masse or to someone you know who has an amazing sex story they might want to share in writing). I do NOT need any stories about sex work, but I would love an essay by an asexual person and I'd also love an essay by a transgender person (essays don't have to necessarily be "about" those topics). Those are just two potential ideas on my editorial dream wishlist. The truth is, the essay I'm looking for is the one I don't yet know exists but that keeps me riveted, awed, amazed, and sure that my readers will be too. In other words, I'll know it when I see it.

Queries or questions? Email me at truesexantho at gmail.com - earlier submissions get priority and I'll be filling the anthology as I go. I will consider anything that comes in by December 6th, there will just be fewer spots available by then most likely. If you are waiting to hear back from me, I will get back to you as soon as I can, by the end of January at the latest. I have wanted to do this book since I first started hosted True Sex Confessions nights in 2006 at In The Flesh. If you want to know the type of essay I love, read "Silver Baling" by Stacey D'Erasmo in Best Sex Writing 2009 and "It's a Shame About Ray" by Kirk Read in Best Sex Writing 2010 (or any personal essay I've published in Best Sex Writing 2008, 2009, 2010, 2012, 2013. I hope it's not just a dream that never sees the light of day, and I have a feeling that this will be a wonderful book. Thanks!

Call for Submissions
True Sex essay anthology
Edited by Rachel Kramer Bussel
To be published by Cleis Press

Editor Rachel Kramer Bussel is looking for true (nonfiction) essays about your most powerful sexual experiences. The final book will feature a wide range of scenarios, settings, writing styles, ages, races, genders and sexual orientations. These should not be academic in tone or about theory, though there can be a political or serious element; I’m mainly looking for extremely personal, one of a kind essays focused around compelling sexual events in your life. I’m looking for your hottest sex, or the worst sex, or the kinkiest, or the funniest, or the meanest, or the most unexpected. Sex with a celebrity? Sex with someone forbidden? Sex you’ve never told anyone about? Sex on vacation you wouldn't have had at home? Sex on drugs? Group sex? Sex on camera? Sex you paid for or were paid for? Sex that surprised or confused you? Sex that changed your life? I want the story that most speaks to you about your sex life, either as a defining moment or simply one you’ve never been able to forget. No poetry. First or second person POV welcome. See the Best Sex Writing series and videos of true sex confessions from my former In The Flesh Reading Series for an idea of the types of essays I’m looking for. Please keep in mind that the more original and unique your essay, the better its chances. I want the story that only you can write told in a lively, compelling, can't-put-down way. Original essays will get priority, but I will consider reprints as long as you retain the rights; you MUST include the previous publication information with your submission.

Payment: Contributors will receive $100/essay and 2 copies of the anthology on publication. Contract is for one-time rights.

How to submit: Send only the final version of your proofread work along with your bio and mailing address. Include essay title and byline at top of first page. Send double spaced Times or Times New Roman 12 point black font Word document OR RTF of 1,500-3,500 word essay. Indent the first line of each paragraph half an inch and double space (regular double spacing, do not add extra lines between paragraphs or do any other irregular spacing). US grammar (double quotation marks around dialogue, etc.) required. The Feminist Porn Conference: Call for Papers

I saw this tweeted by Tristan Taormino, and I'm passing it along because a) there's an affiliation with my Alma Mater and b) Tristan Taormino is a superhero.  The following is taken with permission from http://thefeministpornbook.com/2012/11/14/hello-world/:

We are pleased to announce a Call for Papers and Presentations for The Feminist Porn Conference

About The Conference

The Feminist Porn Conference will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2013 at the University of Toronto as part of the 2013 Feminist Porn Awards. Feminists have been debating, studying, and creating pornography for decades, and the transformation of feminism, sexual politics, porn, and popular culture over the last decade has broadened the dialogue on this provocative topic. With the resurgence of anti-pornography feminist scholarship by Sheila Jeffries, Gail Dines, Pamela Paul, Robert Jensen, and others, the time has come to hear from progressive, anti-censorship, sex positive, and sex worker feminist voices.

This one day conference will bring together academics, cultural critics, sex workers, activists, fans, and producers to explore the intersections between feminism and pornography as well as the emergence of feminist porn as a genre, industry, and movement. It will be a part of The Good for Her Feminist Porn Awards, one of the largest gatherings of feminist pornographers in the world. We seek to raise awareness, pose critical questions, and incite dialogue about the shifting landscape of pornography and what roles we can play in it.

How has a new generation of people in the porn industry–who openly identify as feminist and own their own companies, direct and produce their own material, and/or take on politicized identities as sex worker performers–changed the way porn in produced and consumed? What does it mean to be a feminist who performs in, makes, distributes, and/or consumes porn? Are women and feminists working within or against the status quo? How have representations of the female body, gender, and sexuality shifted as a result of feminists and women making porn? How are marginalized women—including women of color, queer and trans women, disabled women, lower and working class women, fat women, and older women—imagined, represented, or marginalized in pornography? How are femininities and masculinities re-imagined in feminist porn? How do performers of color and minority performers address misogyny, racism, and inequality as workers in a predominantly white, male-dominated industry?

Call for Papers and Presentations
Deadline January 4, 2013

We welcome academics, scholars, researchers, students, activists, past and present sex workers, and others to submit proposals to present at the conference. We welcome scholars from different disciplines (including feminist studies, gender and sexuality studies, ethnic studies, film and media studies, sociology, and history). We are seeking proposals for individual papers, panels, or workshops on these broad themes investigated within the context of race, class, gender, and sexuality:
  • historical studies of pornography
  • the anti-porn feminist resurgence
  • representations of female pleasure and desire
  • concepts of desire, authenticity, and fantasy
  • LGBT, queer, genderqueer, and transgender pornographies
  • BDSM, fetish, kink, and rough sex on film
  • porn, sex work, labor rights, and equality
  • HIV/AIDS, STIs, and safer sex
  • the politics of porn
  • DIY pornographies, new technologies, internet economies
  • watching porn: viewership and fandom
  • constructions of ability, beauty, desirability, and body size
  • sex education in porn
  • feminist porn as genre, industry, or movement
  • practical, how-to workshops for performers, directors, and producers
Guidelines for Submission
Individual Papers: Submit an abstract of 350 words, a short bio, and contact information.

Call for Submissions: Active Duty - Fiery Gay Military Erotica

Hello writers!
This call came to me from super-cool editor Niel Plakcy, with an invitation to share with other erotica writers.  That's you, right?  Don't you write uber-hot, sexy-romantic gay fiction?  Sure you do!  Here's the call:

Call for Submissions: Active Duty - Fiery Gay Military Erotica

Call this book “The Joy of Military Sex” – with the repeal of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell, the military is changing, and there’s no more need for gay servicemen to stay in the closet. The editor of Hard Hats, Beach Bums and The Handsome Prince is looking for erotically-charged stories that reflect the new openness among military personnel.

There’s no more need for furtive encounters in restrooms, no more angst about the loss of a career for a single indiscretion. Instead, consider the supply clerk who displays a rainbow flag discreetly on his desk. The lieutenant who can now march in a pride parade in his dress whites. The drill sergeant who no longer has to tolerate anti-gay epithets.

What’s sex like when jarheads, bird colonels and platoon daddies don’t have to hide any more? When medics, jet jockys, and PFCs can be proud of their military service? Unleash those torrid fantasies and turn them into hot stories!

Story length:  3,000 – 5,000 words
Deadline:  December 1, 2012
Publication Date:  Fall, 2014
Payment:  $60.00 per story, payable on publication, plus 1 copy of the book

You may forward this call to other erotica writers you know. Submit your story to Neil Plakcy at plax@bellsouth.net as a MS word attachment.

Call For Submissions: New Horror Short Story Anthology

Another call for subs, this one from my mainstream e-publisher Untreed Reads (love them!) and it's for a New Year's Eve horror antho!  I've got a story burbling away already.  How about you?

***

Some people are sorry to see a year go by. Great things happened, vacations were taken, memories were made.

Of course...not EVERY year is necessarily a good one. And, sometimes, New Year's Eve can be the scariest holiday of them all. Forced to relive awkward moments, breakups...and sometimes something a little more sinister. A new year doesn't necessarily mean it's going to be a GOOD year.

A lot of people die on New Year's Eve. Many of them happen in traffic accidents. But what about the others? What about the unusual deaths? Could there be a supernatural reason why people don't make it to a new year? Some force at work determined to thin the herd before the clock ticks over to 12:01?

Untreed Reads is pleased to announce a call for submissions for a new horror short story anthology we're calling Year's End. Come tell us your scariest story about New Year's Eve. Happy endings are not necessary. Heck, the more horrific and unhappy the better. Here's the rules:

1. All stories must be between 1500-5000 words.
2. Deadline for submission for consideration is October 15th, 2012. This is a firm date; no submissions after this date will be considered.
3. All submissions should be sent to Jay Hartman at jhartman@untreedreads.com with the words NEW YEARS in the subject line.
4. Your story CANNOT take place on New Year's Day. The ending may take you there, but the bulk of the story MUST happen on New Year's Eve.
5. Submissions must be in DOC, RTF or ODT format.
6. We will not be publishing the stories individually. Only the anthology will be available.
7. Authors will receive royalty, but not upfront payment. Authors will each receive a share of royalties of 50% of net (net = cover price - vendor commission) based on the number of authors in the final anthology.
8. Characters appearing in other Untreed Reads series or other series not published by us are strongly encouraged. Please check your contract with your publisher to make sure you may legally do so.
9. Your story MUST have a strong horror element to it. Any genre of horror is fine. Preference is to psychological horror rather than gore.
10. Stories not accepted for the anthology may be still be considered for other publication.
11. Previously published works are fine providing that electronic rights have reverted to the author and the story is not currently offered for free anywhere on the Internet or currently published through a self-publishing venue (i.e.: Smashwords, Amazon KDP, etc.).
12. There are no restrictions whatsoever on age, race, sex, sexual orientation, etc in the work.. Just tell us a great story!

Please direct any questions to Jay Hartman at jhartman@untreedreads.com. We recommend looking at any of the following for an idea of the types of stories we're looking for: Joshua Calkins-Treworgy's Roads Through Amelia series, Benson Phillip Lott's Pumpkin series or any of the horror works by Rick R. Reed.

All decisions on material will be made by November 1st, 2012. Every attempt will be made to notify all authors of the status of their submission at that time. Please do not inquire about status prior to November 1st, 2012.

This anthology has an expected publication date of December 15th.

This is an open call, and may be reposted anywhere and everywhere.

Best,
Jay Hartman

Call for VAGINAS

I came across this project via @jizlee on Twitter and it's given me a reason to pick up a paintbrush after maybe 2 years of paintbrush silence.  "The Vagina Project" is a call for artistic renderings of vaginas with a message.

This is coming at you from JRow Art:

I am seeking submissions from artists and non-artists (but isn’t everyone an artist?) to post on this website to create a gallery of vagina art with a message. What does your vagina have to say??! I’m sure there’s tons. The world should know!
Deadline: August 15th, 2012
Cost: FREE
What: painting, sculpture, ceramics, drawing,  music, video/new media, fabric art, finger painted art, doodle art — any kind of art that you can think of. Try not to get too self-conscious about your work if you are not used to making art. This isn’t a competition :)
Submissions:Email me your submissions at jrowartist@gmail.com. Please include:
1. Quality photo of your image
2. Please be clear about the message and type the caption of the image into the body of the email (re: the theme – What does your vagina have to say?). If there is no caption, please provide a clear and brief statement about the piece.
3. Your name or pseudonym
4. Year the piece was created
5. Medium (for mixed media, please be as detailed as possible)
6. Anything you would like the world to know about you and your piece, including email, website, location, etc.
Please share widely! The more submissions the merrier.

Call for Submissions: The Killer Wore Cranberry: A Second Helping

A funny murder mystery featuring a Thanksgiving dish?  Now THAT's a challenge.  For me, at least.  Maybe not for you.  Thanksgiving isn't as big a holiday here in Canada as it is in the states, so I'm up against that blockage too.  Wish me luck, and I'll wish you luck, and we'll all review this call for submissions from Untreed Reads:

The Killer is back!

We had so much fun with The Killer Wore Cranberry back in 2010, that we felt it was time to revisit the anthology. So, we're happy to present The Killer Wore Cranberry: A Second Helping.

As in the previous anthology, all the stories contained within must be about murder and mayhem happening at Thanksgiving, and must feature a typical Thanksgiving dish as a vital part of the story (i.e.: turkey, mashed potatoes, pumpkin pie). Most importantly...it must be funny! This anthology is all about making people laugh while enjoying a great mystery short at the same time. The anthology will be edited by Editor-in-Chief Jay Hartman.

And now, the rules:

1. All stories must be between 1500-5000 words.
2. Deadline for submission for consideration is September 1st, 2012. This is a firm date; no submissions after this date will be considered.
3. All submissions should be sent to Jay Hartman at jhartman@untreedreads with the word THANKSGIVING in the subject line.
4. Submissions must be in DOC, RTF or ODT format.
5. Unlike the previous anthology, we will not be publishing the stories individually. Only the anthology will be available.
6. Authors will receive royalty, but not upfront payment. Authors will each receive a share of royalties of 50% of net (net = cover price - vendor commission) based on the number of authors in the final anthology.
7. Characters appearing in other Untreed Reads series or other series not published by us are strongly encouraged (i.e.: Wade J. McMahan's Richard Dick, Beth Mathison'sMobsters or Young at Heart or Albert Tucher's Diana Andrews)
8. Your story MUST have humor in it, feature a Thanksgiving dish and have a great mystery or crime at the heart of the story.
9. Stories not accepted for the anthology may be still be considered for other publication.
10. Previously published works are fine providing that electronic rights have reverted to the author and the story is not currently offered for free anywhere on the Internet or currently published through a self-publishing venue (i.e.: Smashwords, Amazon KDP, etc.).
11. There are no restrictions whatsoever on age, race, sex, sexual orientation, etc in the work.. Just tell us a great story!

Please direct any questions to Jay Hartman at jhartman@untreedreads.com. We recommend looking at the original The Killer Wore Cranberry for an idea of the types of stories we're looking for.

All decisions on material will be made by September 15th, 2012. Every attempt will be made to notify all authors of the status of their submission at that time. Please do not inquire about status prior to September 15th, 2012.

This anthology has an expected publication date of October 15th.

This is an open call, and may be reposted anywhere and everywhere.
